Dist's involvement in Team Rocket
Projects/Event Involvement:
• When he first arrived in Johto (June 2012), Dist began his work in the science department by helping fellow scientists Agnus (
tickleironysjudgment) and Gorthan (
shakespearealien) with their project. Started by Agnus, he was trying to develop a machine that could boost the attack power of Pokemon well above their usual limits. They started the project with just Psychic types. While Agnus and Gorthan came up with the formulas, Dist designed and built the machine itself. The machine did end up working, but Agnus and Gorthan both disappeared from Johto before anything substantial could be done with it. That project lasted until their departure in November of 2012.
• When Team Rocket developed the Pokepowers from the Legendary Beasts, Dist and Gorthan were in charge of distributing the DNA to the other Rockets and monitoring their progress after distribution. While Gorthan participated in the experiment by injecting himself with DNA, Dist chose to opt out and strictly observe the progress. In truth, he was wary about suffering potential side effects, which did eventually show themselves over time. As the event took place, Dist kept a close eye on what what down and how the powers, which really ended up more like diseases, developed within the other Rockets and eventually the rest of the region. A report on it was written after the event.
• After those two projects, Dist was finally ready to begin his own project. Fascinated by Pokemon DNA and evolutionary items, he began research on them to see if he could manipulate a Pokemon's evolutionary capabilities. In order to monitor Pokemon evolution, he designed a machine that would record just what aspects of a species' DNA was changing during normal evolution and evolution via item. It was through that that he could attempt to splice a Pokemon's DNA to react to specific items that it normally wouldn't be able to. Of course, splicing DNA opened up a large window of possibilities that didn't simply end at evolution.
• Most recently, he's also begun to look at Pokemon with anti-gravity capabilities. This includes Magnemite, Klink, Beldum, their evolutions and other Pokemon of the robotic sort. To test if these Pokemon can be contained and shaped into something more controllable than simply giving verbal commands, he's going to attempt to rebuild his floating chair from back in his world. His original chair was crafted with fontech, which is simply a machine that utilizes specific elements like wind, fire, earth, etc. This fontech allowed Dist to manipulate the wind fonon (elemental particles) in such a way that he could make his chair fly. Suspecting that Magnemite and the like can do something similar but with electrical charges, he wants to magnetically attach them to the chair and wire them to react to the slightest movements on a touchpad. That way, he can control their anti-gravity and move the chair through the air.
Miscellaneous:
• He's looked into harnessing Golett/Golurk's mysterious energy, but has yet to find a way to measure it or even produce raw forms of it. He at least wrote up a report on its genetic makeup.
• He definitely wants to do some work with Ditto or Zorua at some point because replicas.
• While he was practicing splicing Pokemon genes, some uh…really special things occurred.

One instance caused a Pokemon to temporarily devolve into its previous form.
Another resulted in a Fire type Pokemon only being able to use Water type moves, and a Grass type only being able to use Fire type moves. Very deceptive, these Pokemon.
A Metagross ended up with way too many arms and was basically a spiderbot.
Some unfortunate side effects occurred when he tried to test the genes with evolving items. Some items caused the Pokemon to mutate somewhat, like a Pokemon with a Metal Coat only fused with it partially and could not move the limbs that became metallic.
Similar effects occurred with Razor Claws and Razor Fangs. It resulted in the Pokemon only actually gaining those qualities and not actually evolving. While it certainly improved the Pokemon, it did not achieve the result Dist was after.
