IN CHARACTER
Name: Anon
Canon: Tron: Evolution
Canon Point: end of game
Age: 9 hours

History: wiki

Personality:
Anon's primary impulse is towards trying to help and protect people (programs or user). He was built with the idea of keeping things under control and safe, a purpose which has been beyond his reach for his entire runtime. As such, he won't let a little thing like his goals being unrealistic stop him from trying. However, between Gibson telling him to flee Abraxas and Radia warning him to not go after Clu and his army directly, he has accepted that sometime battle isn’t the right option. He'll run if a situation is clearly unwinnable, even if others want to try the impossible. But if there's a chance, or if someone else is in danger but could be saved, Anon will do incredibly dangerous and stupid things to make the attempt. He has less regard for whoever is the authority than for fighting against the people causing damage, at least when he's not the one accidentally destabilizing buildings. And as much as he wants to help and protect programs, when faced with a big enough threat Anon will focus entirely on defeating it. He’s managed to destroy a theater just fighting lots of regular guards, helped overload the main generator in Bostrum to get away from Abraxas, and when fighting Abraxas again blew up a ship to destroy the virus. He'll feel bad about the collateral damage later, but he'll destroy buildings, ships, and bystanders if he thinks it necessary.

When not dealing with active threats, he has so little experience with the world that he ends up somewhere between easy-going and gullible. 9 hours is young even for a program, and while he has the physical capabilities of a security program coded in, he only has hours of memories and social interaction to base things on. It doesn’t help that he was in the middle of a rebellion, or that he didn’t have a good role-model to teach him for most of that time. He honestly doesn't know what situations are normal and reasonable because everything he's ever seen has been crisis. As such, he has to rely a lot on what other people tell him, and really has nothing to compare even "obvious" lies to. He's generally inclined to just sort of go along with people or situations until something dramatic happens.

Anon is also highly curious about new places and people, especially the (so far) uncommon category of new people who don't react with fear or aggression. Nearly every program he meets is trying to fight him or fleeing from the reported as viral system monitor. He's a friendly program for levels of friendly that don't require speech when he gets the chance. Well, mostly he's willing to put up with the kind of friends that made him learn how to do a full body eyeroll. Or who ask him to let them out of a cell only to leave Anon to take their place. His social standards are so low that just treating him like a real person is enough for Anon to assume someone's okay. Actually being nice to or caring about Anon will usually put a person in the "friend" category. Anyone who befriends Anon will have to deal with an awkwardly overprotective beta as his past experiences with friendship have ended poorly. His mentor Tron was "killed" as he tried to get to Tron to help, his Admin Radia was killed in front of him, his friend Gibson was turned into a virus and killed by Anon after begging for death, and his other friend Quorra was captured and left unconscious as Anon fought to rescue her. If getting himself stabbed, shot, or exploded is what it takes to not have to go through that again, so be it.

He enjoys climbing and leaping to higher places, regardless of whether it actually gets him to somewhere new. They just feel safer, and the more inaccessible the better since he is better at climbing and leaping than most other programs. Furniture and buildings are just climbing structures with other uses. An unfortunate amount of Anon's non-acrobatic problem solving skills comes down to "hit it with a disk". It tends to be his response to doors, hostile programs, and buttons. Really, non-destructive solutions are just a thing he hasn't had time to figure out yet. He's getting there (hopefully before he destroys another building).

Unlike a lot of programs, Anon doesn't have a massive respect/awe/dedication to "the Users" He knows that many programs do hold place great value on the Users, but if there's a good reason for it beyond "capable of creating and changing code" Anon doesn't know it. And while that kind of is the reason for some, Anon actually has seen several programs capable of rewriting code, often in drastic ways. In part this is because his whole knowledge and experience of Users comes down to Kevin Flynn, who isn't some abstract creator, but another person present in the Grid. As his own User, Flynn obviously has both the ability and the right to edit and improve Anon. He also fairly obviously doesn't dote on Anon, and it's made clear repeatedly that Flynn prefers the ISOs, so there's not much affection besides the "this is my creator" loyalty in his initial programming. Flynn has, in fact, decided that the only programs who actually are capable of free will and independent action are the ISOs, and that BASICs like Anon are inferior and limited. This is a particularly damaging view given that even Anon is shown to be editing his own code though upgrades as he tries to defend the system. It is possible that this opinion during Anon’s coding is why Anon is incapable of the normally inherent but uncoded ability to talk that most programs have.

As for other code edits, perhaps the most drastic is the viral corruption created by CLU and spread by Abraxas. Anon has been forced to watch this corruption take control of system structures, his fellow programs, and one of his few friends. The spread and power of the virus is the greatest threat to system safety and stability Anon knows, with CLU himself, as a System Admin who has betrayed his own system, the only problem that comes close. As such, the viruses clearly must be destroyed. And then his own User built pieces of the viral corruption into his code and his disk as an "upgrade". Anon can see the strength and the utility of the upgrade, and can acknowledge its potential to help. It's also horrible to see himself spread the corruption that is the antithesis of his purpose. Anon is very much of the opinion that deletion is a much better fate than being a virus, an opinion that is only reinforced by the virus version of his friend Gibson begging Anon to kill him.

Abilities/Skills: Anon is highly skilled at combat with an identity disk, as well as several disk modifications that give different weapon effects. As a security program, he can scan other programs and system elements for their identifiers and any inherent strengths or weaknesses. These scans also allow him to monitor the condition of code elements and help to track and target specific programs, though only in the local area. He can manipulate power flow and sources to some extent, but doesn't really know what he's doing and may cause damage. He is capable of driving lightcycles in very challenging conditions, operating tanks competently including their weapons, and has permissions for recognizers but has never actually flown one. He is also notably strong and athletic, capable of jumping multiple times his height both vertically and horizontally, climbing directly up walls for short distances, and running along walls.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
Strengths: powerful combatant, acrobatics, adaptability, perseverance, level temper, improved resiliency and energy stores.
Weaknesses: highly inexperienced, gullible, unable to speak, extremely limited outside of combat and mobility skills.

Items:
Identity disk; disk modifications: heavy, bomb(upgraded), stasis, corruption, magnet;
navi-bit (glitched, frequently gives no directions, poor directions, or wanders off);
lightcycle batons (x2, 1 is basic model, other is Flynn's custom cycle);
security model gridsuit with face concealing helmet
