Age: old enough to have owned pokemon stadium on its release but too young to have comprehended how to beat story mode

It's Fall, Ya'll!
Is your region approaching fall? If not, what season are you in: yup! its chilly and the leaves are starting to change. really excited for the next couple weeks when it really starts changing and we start to see the orange and red leaves everywhere that the areas known for
Is Autumn your favorite season? If not, which one is: it's #2 for me behind winter. im one of those strange people that really likes the cold and snow haha
Are there any fall-time events you want to go to or have been to: i really like going to fall festivals and stuff like that. id like to be able to go to a rocky horror screening at some point, but these are almost never accessible so idk when ill be able to do that with my partner
Do you have any favorite fall-time drinks or specialty foods that you enjoy: apple cider! and pigs in a blanket! my grandma would make em around halloween to look like mummies, and i like to do that now as a tradition. i also think about honey cinnamon roasted almonds that ppl sell at street fairs and carnivals around this time
What's your favorite thing about fall: the weather getting cooler lol. i also like seeing the beautiful leaf colors and mushrooms popping up
Do you have any specific fall attire that you enjoy wearing: sweaters mostly, though i do wear these in the winter and spring too lol. idk if there's anything fall exclusive that i wear
Do you have any favorite memories associated with autumn: rescuing pumpkin TwT (that's how she got the name she does. very festive lol)
miscellanium and i were just out trying to walk one of our other cats on a leash, and pumpkin just ran over to us from the bushes and wanted to be pet :(. she was nothing but skin and bones, so i went into the house to get some food for her and she followed me in like she lived there. it makes me really sad knowing she clearly was abandoned or lost, so im happy we can give her a home and got her healthy and strong again. i would have never thought she was a fluffy cat based on how she looked when we first found her
love her and this memory right at the start of fall.
i also like remembering hikes i went on with misc and the time we dressed up as vampire yuuya and shingo and took silly cosplay pics for halloween
Are there any hobbies that you participate more in during autumn: definitely hiking! i go outside a lot more in the fall lol. i also like baking more in the fall, though i think i do that most over the winter. i have noticed though, semi-related to hobbies, that i have a tendency to think about certain ships more for certain seasons than others. this is definitely tendershipping season for me, so i tend to go hard with this ship this time of year. idk if anyone else has noticed there are seasonal associations they have with ships :o
Do you celebrate Halloween at all: oh yes! always have. though i do think its frowned upon for adults to trick or treat lol. especially when kids these days dont and just go to those stupid trunk or treat things
If yes to above, do you have a favorite costume/cosplay that you wore and/or made: i really like the costume i made when i went to a halloween rave as harley quinn. i painted the diamond pattern on my leggings and everything! and i also painted the mask on my face. that was a really cool rave in this abandoned grain warehouse. (and that must have been the year breaking bad was really popular cause this dude who was dressed as walter white wouldnt leave me alone!!)
Do you have any autumn traditions: not really other than making those halloweenies and watching scary movies (but i do that all the time so not really a tradition lol)
Do you have any fall-themed playlists: kinda? its the time of year i find myself listening to more witchhouse and goth adjacent music lol. and its also the annual time where i weigh whether or not i should listen to crystal castles given all of the baggage and terrible shit that accompanies the group's past. which is weird for me cause i really loved that group in high school and college but damn it really disappoints and disgusts to know the background of some of these songs in addition to how alice was treated in general... her newer stuff is pretty good though, i would recommend that

What kind of friend(s) are you searching for: nice people who are passionate about their interests and appreciate my own passion for my own interests. people who are into diy and fan events over corporate shit.
What do you like to read about: i like to read about anything honestly lol. i like to read updates about peoples lives and to learn about new topics. i like reading fics and fan meta ppl write even if i might not know the series. i like to read peoples analysis and reviews of media they like. i like to read shitposty bs
What do you dislike reading about: i do not like reading about online discourse or about infighting. i also do not like reading about people going on and on about things they dont like
How often do you check your friends feed: when i have time. im needing to get back into the habit of checking dreamwidth at least once a week, but i try to take a look when i can just to see what people are talking about. it's difficult when you have friends scattered across a lot of platforms...
Do you like to talk to your friends outside of DW? yes! in fact its probably better to reach me that way cause i have a tendency to read something on dreamwidth and then not have enough time to reply and forget to entirely lol. you can find me more actively on aethy (millenniumring@aethy.com) or on discord.
Do you have any deal-breakers: ppl who are like really into the labels anti or proship or any variance of those labels. i dont care. people who are extremely negative and spend more time focusing on things they hate than things they like.

Cosplaying in public with your husbando is always fun :3c it's always nice to just be in NATURE the way it was intended: dressed as anime characters!!!
Omg your pigs in a blanket story reminded me of one year Shane's mom made this mummy ... meat loaf... baby corpse shaped thing. It looked worse and worse as we took pieces of it to eat...Halloween food is so morbid ghghgh. I'm so glad we have this season to engage in societally accepted psuedo cannibalism!
Also I had to ask Shane if he knew what trunk or treating was?! My word, things change so much when you've lived away from society in a decade. Shane said "yeah it's usually some church thing that parents think is safer". Poor kids will never know what it's like to walk a mile in crappy halloween boots that leave you blistered for a week after :p

Date: 2023-10-03 10:05 am (UTC)the trunk or treat thing makes me feel like a boomer X) trick or treating is so sacred and builds character. it was the first time i remember ever having freedom from my family cause theyd let me go around with the neighborhood kids, which i think is unthinkable now. that or millennial parents are too paranoid to let their kids be alone. ive heard some ppl say that its helpful to do the trunk thing in more rural areas, which i get, but theres kids in suburbs that exclusively do this and will never know the joy of going door to door telling a stupid joke for candy.

Oh, the many years of broken toes and broken friendships.. who will be in which clique of oversized children? Who will manage to get Robin Williams to open his mansion gate and finally get that vaunted free playstation? Who knows exactly which neighborhoods are filled with the richest people who toss whole toblerone packs into your candy bag, and have free block parties?!
I suppose the trunk or treat will have to be a different experience for gen Alpha kids 😔 You get to learn what kind of cars your friend's parents drive? (What about the ones with no cars...)

Date: 2023-10-05 03:45 pm (UTC)yea the car thing is also weird for that reason :/. i wasn't even thinking about the judgement ppl might make with the type of car (or lack of). i don't remember if I made assumptions like that about houses as a kid since remember going to a rich neighborhood once and there were actually way fewer houses giving out candy than in the poor ones. weird how it works like that...

Like one of my friend's boyfriends did some.. internship making Michael Myers knives at a toy shop and met him cuz Robin Williams likes to collect toys?! He didn't give out Playstations for real during halloween, but he did leave out a big bucket of pretty good candy and yes soda cans! I don't think he even was in his place during Halloween, doubtless he was somewhere else LMAO.
We do NOT get trick or treaters. I thought it was just our area full of old people with no kids, but I guess it's a nation-wide epidemic of the spirit of halloween failing 😭 That is SO smart though, having stuff you yourself would actually want to use like soda?? Copying that idea right now. If you kids don't want "Doctor Thunder" soda or lil bottles of aloe vera drink, that's for me!!!
I have very fond memories of trick or treating in our ~poor~ neighborhood and getting a bunch of swag. The rich neighborhoods have the loud parties and stuff in the streets, so it's fun to just walk and see what people do with $1000000 to decorate for a holiday! But yeah they don't necessarily give the most stuff out :P they're too preoccupied being inside and doing.. rich things!
