inside of a dog it's too dark to read
Feb. 24th, 2026 07:44 pmThis is as classic as it gets, we have all been to way too many meetings that could have been an email, a text message, or sometimes even a thumbs up, but to spend this amount of money on a meeting that does almost nothing is next‑level corporate. It is the extra mile that companies will happily sprint down, just to avoid actually accomplishing anything

This mother-in-law won't take no for an answer!
Becoming a grandparent is a dream for many people, and they indulge that grandchild as much as they can. They'll feed them junk food, get them all riled up before bed time, let them do whatever they want, and then send them home to let Mom and Dad deal with the fallout. Grandparents don't usually mean to cause trouble, but the ways they treat the grandkiddies can really stress out the parents.
This MIL has a vision for her 3-year-old grandson's birthday, but it's clashing with her son and daughter-in-law's actual wishes.
Why can't this neighbor understand that the public road space is for everyone?
If you're a mom, you're impossibly busy all the time. And if you're a homeowner with nothing else to do in the world, you might spend your time bugging your neighbors about petty things, like who parks where. And thus, these two people meet, and no one leaves happy!
This person has had an ongoing situation with a neighbor for months now. This neighbor has ardently decided that this woman shouldn't park across the street from her house. Why? There doesn't seem to be a real reason. The neighbor just doesn't like it, and has made it her mission to bug this poor Mom who's just trying to find somewhere to park the car.
It's always baffling when hiring managers feign surprise at candidates refusing their paltry offers.
We understand that the job market is tough out there, but the assumption that countless individuals will accept any amount of pay under any conditions is ludicrous and outdated. Unfortunately, far too many recruiters and employers alike seem stuck in the past when it comes to meeting candidates where they are.
This job candidate had years of experience under his belt, plus a degree and plenty of applicable specialized skills. He should have been taken far more seriously from the start of his interview process for a new position. However, clearly, the recruiter with whom the candidate was communicating was either ignorant herself or she vastly underestimated the candidate's ability to advocate for himself.
Tech bros are not the problem (here), the problem is tech bros plus unlimited access to a keyboard and a complete blindness to the concept of incremental progress. This story is basically a stand‑up bit about a startup where the only thing moving fast was the rate at which the thing they're trying to start up is performance art
Woman refuses to let date talk for 2 hours, then decides she's "bored": 'We weren't compatible'
Feb. 24th, 2026 08:00 amWhen a date feels too one-sided, you're going to decline another date with that person.
Modern dating is tough, isn't it? It kind of feels like the concept of going on a date with a random person just won't work out. You have to date someone you meet in a social setting. So often, when you agree to a date with someone you met from an app, the conversation is just uncomfortable, endlessly awkward, and ultimately unproductive.
I've now been on so many dates where the person across the table from me spent the entire 90-minute first date talking about themselves. And I do mean the entire date. I've left dates where we had a few drinks and shared a cheese plate and I know everything about this dude… and yet, I will never see him again, because he didn't ask me a thing about myself. On to the next, obviously.
If there is one thing this employee knows how to do, it is to take stock of everything that happens in the warehouse.
A lot can happen in a workplace without anyone noticing or paying attention. Work gets done, and employees come and go every day. It's not feasible for everyone to track every action taken by others, and that's okay. But in a workplace like a warehouse, a tracking system must be in place; it would be extremely difficult to run the business otherwise. As soon as there's stock involved in the workplace, attention to detail is a must, and every small mistake can go as far as costing someone their job.
When HR promises you an hour-long lunch break, they should not pretend to be shocked when you take it.
This electrician had the unfortunate experience of working at a company where he was expected to work 10 hours a day without stopping, not even for a decent lunch hour. The strange part was that these so-called norms actually went against what the electrician had been promised prior to signing a contract with HR. That agreement expressly stated that the author was entitled to a lunch break.
People, it's not like this guy was asking for special perks! Besides, choosing to let someone go for demanding what he was promised is a recipe for backlash.
Covering yourself from vulnerability is one of the most important lessons you will learn in the workplace… but it's not taught during onboarding or printed in the employee manual.
It might seem as if documenting every little part of your day would be disadvantageous for you, owing to the amount of oversight that you're offering your megalomaniac of a boss, but if you're documenting every little thing that you're doing with your time, it is going to take so much of their time that they're not going to be able to manage all of that information anyways. And when you're working in a toxic environment under leadership that likes to rewrite history and point the finger, there is never going to be a time when you regret fastidious record keeping.
Plus, as with any time a requirement for additional administrative oversight is added, there is going to be a cost to productivity. As every little bit of paperwork is completed, the only way to highlight the ridiculousness of it is to follow it to the letter.
And there will always be things that are overlooked.
As a historic blizzard left the East Coast blanketed in snow, some bosses realized they didn't plan ahead.
For the first time in roughly a decade, a major winter storm has dropped several feet of snow across the entire East Coast. It's kind of a big deal! A lot of us are working from home, while in New York at least, all of the kids got a real, bona fide snow day.
Here's the thing: we got quite a bit of warning that we were about to get a wall of snow and ice. We knew for like, a full week beforehand! Many of us went out shopping for groceries, did our laundry, and got any last-minute items we might need before we sealed ourselves in our cozy cocoons to ride out the storm.
There are some workers who are out there right now, working through literally any weather condition, like fire fighters and EMTs. But those folks plan ahead, too. They aren't scrambling around at the last minute trying to determine their course of action in the way that this boss was.

15+ Employees share their workplace dramas: 'They got caught'
Feb. 23rd, 2026 12:00 pmWhat's the drama going on in your workplace?
Every workplace has some drama going on! No matter where you work — from the back of house at a restaurant, to the boujie conference rooms of C-suite offices — there will be some kind of tea to spill.
When you work with the same group of people for 40+ hours each week, you get to know each other way too well! Friendships form, and just as quickly, so do cliques and little feuds.
These people were eager to share the little rifts going on in their workspaces, and the stories are wild!
Some people started pilfering from their job before selling off their ill-gotten goods, like this first person here.
All this student was trying to do was help out a desperate friend.
This author noticed that their classmate was behind academically after having to miss class for several weeks due to being sick. When she volunteered to give him a helping hand, she had no idea what she was getting herself into.
It turns out that this manchild was looking for more than just a little academic support. He was basically looking for a personal assistant. It started simple. The author met up with him to walk him through what he missed in school during his absence.
Quickly, however, this escalated into a morally ambiguous dynamic in which the classmate became increasingly dependent on the author to do literally everything for him.
