[The stutter is gone, and the grease: two years of being unrecognizable after her first death have made Touko much less self-conscious, if still spiteful. Reaping the girl who caused her death certainly helped her feel a little less persecuted, but only a little less. Just a bit.]
So are we supposed to get supernatural abilities every time the Admiral announces something like this? I didn't ask for mine the first time, but now I think they're gone. Who else did this happen to? Who else lost something, or gained nothing at all?
[Esther's voice comes from just off-camera, the same accent as ever and seasoned with a crisp intonation.]
If it's only us, I haven't the slightest idea why. It's not as if we'd even done anything.
[Touko wrinkles her nose and edges the frame around to Esther and the dining hall entrance as if she's looking for someone else to back her up.]
Of course we haven't when there's nothing to do. Do you think we're too small for him to notice?
[Esther sends her curls bouncing as she shrugs, crossing her arms over her chest in a gesture that looks far more matronly than childish. There's a hardened expression on her face as she looks over the passengers milling throughout the dining hall.]
Why not? We are for everyone else.
[Touko turns to her with a look that's more uncertainty than sisterhood, as if she's afraid of breaking something.] I thought you were happy about that.
[Another shrug and Esther steps toward Touko, her voice suddenly weary.] It's often better that way, isn't it.
[And suddenly, Touko is back to herself, trying to salvage the moment.] It isn't now! We can't resign ourselves to- anyway, who else is like this?

[She was fudging the truth before: Touko doesn't know if she or Esther have their powers or not. What she really wanted was someone who had none at all, and now that at least one person has, it's time to learn if hers are still there.
Being able to reap someone, mark them, isn't what mattered to her, but having something taken from her yet again. Her power is hers, even if it's next to pointless without assignments, and now that she knows Esther sees it the same way there's only one thing to do, isn't there? She has to see for herself.
The only tools they need are available in any common room, and now all she has to do is wait for their victim. She shifts from foot to foot in her hallways, door ajar to an empty cabin she can pretend is hers, and all she has to do is shove her in and get to work.
All she has to do. It sounds small, but she's never chosen someone on her own, and she keeps looking back inside, looking to Esther for an assurance.]
[ooc: Touko and Esther are both from Dead Like Me and came from the same reaper unit; this is their second afterlife, they have both been here less than a month and it is Touko at least's first flood. They have the power to mark someone for death and then arrange for that death so they move on.]

Date: 2014-06-13 09:57 pm (UTC)It should be easy.
Though truth be told, Esther has no idea what the outcome of this experiment might be. She hasn't murdered anyone since she was alive, and without a name and ETD she's unsure how reaping will even work. Still, that doesn't mean they shouldn't try. At the worst, they have an angry revived human to deal with. At the best, they find they're in their regular state and they help someone move on - it doesn't strike her as much of a crime.
It definitely doesn't even look like one. For all intents and purposes, she's just making her friend's bed.]
