Okay, so when I first made PG, I said that characters would NOT be able to canon update. However, it was always my intention to eventually open this option up by involving the Dollhouse in a plot that would allow characters to canon update via imprint wedges, which is how characters have their personalities and memories put into the clone bodies that have been prepared. For those of you who don't know Dollhouse canon, this is a brainwashing technology, more or less.

Anyway. That time has come, because it was going to be opened up and acknowledged via Alpha compositing Echo with her old imprints, which would include one that would bump her into S2 and draw attention to those who work in the Dollhouse that it can happen, at which point you could apply for canon update and Gemetics would kidnap your character via SWAT like they did for the Jurassic Park event, and they would spend an evening being canon updated. Just gone for one evening.

However, seeing as we've gone five months into the game now, it occurs to me that I should ask you guys if you want this option, or if you'd prefer that characters were not made able to be canon updated. There are a lot of reasons to want or not want it, so I'm leaving the choice in your hands. Poll will close Sunday at midnight.

As promised on the AC post, you're getting the event information today for an event that will run from May 20th to 30th, or anywhere in between. You are allowed to choose your own days and duration within this period.

Over these ten days, characters can OPT-IN to encounter a glitch in Gemetics' personality imprinting system. The technology (used by the Dollhouse as described above) will be going haywire, and the result will be a personality swap event. Wires will be crossed, personalities will be getting hodgepodged.

There are various ways to can participate in this event:

① Personality Swap. Characters retain their own memories, but their personalities change to that of another character in the game. They do not have to necessarily exchange one for one with each other, they can be shuffled around any way you please, but it must be the personality of another character.
② Memory Swap. Characters don't get their personalities overwritten, but rather get someone else's memories leaking into their head. Could be full memories, or just select memories.
③ Personality & Memories Swap. Since characters' entire minds are on the wedges that this technology is using, it could be that characters get fractions or the entirety of another character's memories in their head in addition to behaving like them. (i.e., Faith gets Buffy's personality and memories, so she behaves like and thinks she went through the things Buffy did, but retains her core identity of Faith Lehane.)
④ Full Mind Swap. This is essentially a body swap. Again, the entirety of a character's mind is in the wedge, and in this case, your character gets hollowed out and replaced with the other person entirely. In this case, characters will retain all experience of whoever's body they are in when they go back to their own. (I.e., if Buffy gets imprinted into Faith, she will remember what Faith's body goes through during the event, even after Buffy is back in her own body. She will not have no memory of what her own body was doing).

Characters also have the option of getting a "stock" personality and/or memories imprinted. Which would be someone who isn't a player character, but rather a personality they want to have imprinted on them. In this vein, you could have your character suddenly behaving like they're a cold, ruthless assassin because that's the imprint you got, or a fry cook of the opposite gender, etc., etc. You get the point.

Another option for imprints would be an AU of your character, canon or other-wise. PLEASE NOTE that these stock and AU imprints are things you will need to clear through me!

What does this mean? Well, for one, it means your character will be acting not like themselves. For another, it means they might get themselves into a bind legally, morally or physically that they won't like having to get themselves out of once they're back in their right mind!

The plot relevance of this event is to draw attention to the involvement of the Dollhouse in whatever brought them here or whatever was done to them. In PG, the Dollhouse is owned by Gemetics instead of the Rossum Corporation, and this will act as one of various breadcrumbs that will be left to implicate Gemetics in their "kidnappings."
