IC INFORMATION
Character's Name: Thorfinn Karlsefni
Age: seventeen
Canon: Vinland Saga
Canon Point: prior to King Sweyn's banquet; beginning of chapter fifty-one
Species: human
Gender: male, inside and out
Orientation: no preference. His only ambition has been to kill a man and that has left no room for any other interests nor is he a friendly individual.

History: Thorfinn was born in 996 AD in Iceland to Thors and Helga. He would grow to be a boy with a thirst for adventure and to see battle. This would only be pursued when it was requested Thors to lead a band of men in battle some years later. While Thorfinn was ordered to stay at home, he would sneak aboard his father's ship and only made his appearance once the ship had set sail. Unfortunately, while Thors had intentions to keep his people safe, Thorfinn would witness his father's death and would only bring the blame himself. The round face boy became rather angry with the new goal to kill his own father's murderer, Askeladd, leaving his family behind to be part of the group that was led by the same man.

In 1013 AD, seventeen year old Thorfinn was still in Askeladd's band of vikings. Over the years, Thorfinn had fought duels against Askeladd in means to avenge his father. However, he would continue to lose the duels with no intention of giving up and holding his grudge against Askeladd. Thorfinn went after every opportunity to have a duel with Askeladd even when it came time to facing off other vikings while the Danes were invading England. While in London, Thorfinn was ordered to kill Thorkell, a leader of the opposing viking group who were fighting for the English, and would ultimately fail.

Thorfinn would meet Thorkell again when it came to the matter of Prince Canute. Both Thorkell and Askeladd's parties desired to use the Danish prince for own personal gains. While Thorfinn would have little to no interest he was sent to take the prince, the prince's adviser, and a priest from Thorkell's party. With the prince now being tugged along, Askeladd instructed that Thorfinn to protect the prince. Such a task was hardly accepted with Thorfinn being unimpressed with how feminine and soft spoken Prince Canute was. Thorfinn's disrespect towards the prince would finally cause the prince to speak but interaction would otherwise be minute.

Unfortunately, a cold winter would approach during the group's time in England. It resulted in the death of an entire village for the sake of the band's own survival. During this time, Thorfinn would interact with the prince and the adviser over a meal. However, Canute's adviser would be killed which left both the prince and Thorfinn in some shock. Shortly after, there would be another confrontation between Thorkell and Askeladd's parties. Thorfinn earned himself a duel against Thorkell and would hear stories of when Thors was a great warrior. What was counted as a win for Thorfinn was only seen as another failure with Thorkell still alive.

The Icelander's role would be minimised came the time that Canute came to terms with his adviser's death and was able to speak out. Canute declared Thorfinn and Askeladd's as servants of his and Thorfinn would merely follow. Thorkell was quick about serving Canute as well which led to Canute, Askeladd, and Thokell to plot the means of assassinating Canute's father. Thorfinn would merely work under orders and would protect Prince Canute.

After Canute succeeded in gaining an audience with his father, there was a dinner put together by the king. Thorfinn would insist to eat outside in the snow with not wanting to be bothered by the ramble of others. He left his spot outside when he he heard screams from the inside where the banquet was taking place. King Sweyn was dead and Thorfinn would arrive to the scene of Canute having stabbed Askeladd. Askeladd's own body would join the dead. In a fit of rage, Thorfinn attempted to kill the new king. He failed and was then sent away to be sold as a slave.

Appearance: get this guy a brush
This guy is actually strangely short.

Personality: This boy is as cuddly as a porcupine. His demeanor is rough. There is no room for any sort of small talk and Thorfinn is very prone to not making unnecessary eye contact. Upholding relations holds no importance even when there is a possibility of a personal gain. Whatever does come out of his mouth once in the while is more than likely a clipped insult in means to retain distance between him and others. Otherwise, he chooses to keep his mouth shut unless the other party is insistent. It is even then that replies are short and to the point. He insists on eating alone, making this route available to himself as he does not offer up company.

In some cases where the other party's persistence is too much for Thorfinn's taste, there are signs of him merely going alone. This is seen when his own food is made into a meal for three with Canute's adviser bothering him. While Thorfinn does grudgingly sit with the two, he chooses not to speak and vaguely listens in on the blabber. There is a possibility that he has appreciated such means by simply remaining at the dinner table but Thorfinn does not display any good sense of manners and does not bother to say a mere thank you.

While not being the social type, there are things that do spark Thorfinn's interests. With being bundled up in daddy issues, he is sure to come to a quick halt whenever Thors is mentioned. Thorfinn views his father as a great idol and the weight of his father's death is something he is unable to let go. While he is never quite able to understand Thors' words from when he was a child, Thorfinn does think back to the idea of what a true warrior is. It is bothersome that he is not able to figure out the truth of his own but proclaims himself as a warrior, nevertheless.

The topic of Thors' death only leads to Thorfinn's true ambition in life: to seek revenge. He is completely devoted to killing Askeladd, the man who is responsible for Thors' death. This is the only objective in his eyes. There is no importance of forming relationships or earning anything of material value. Thorfinn only takes on tasks if it grants him the opportunity to duel with Askeladd. He does not consider himself one of Askeladd's men despite traveling and going into some means of battle with Askeladd's group. Thorfinn only takes on tasks if it grants him the opportunity to duel with Askeladd. With Thorfinn's anger driving him, it only reveals the weaker points of the boy.

Despite having potential in battle, Thorfinn loses sight of tactics. The negative feelings towards Askeladd as well as his ambitions to win causes Thorfinn to become reckless. He goes about his attacks in the same pattern to the point where Askeladd is able to stop him easier with each duel. To make matters worse, Thorfinn ignores the advise that is given in means of improving his ways in battle. Thorfinn always goes the same route and charges blindly into his fights. This is not limited to Askeladd but is also displayed in his duels against Thorkell.

No change is ever made to how he fights. Instead, Thorfinn is prone to sulking. It is something that has followed him since his childhood; whenever he faces some sort of loss or is wrong, he pulls himself further back than usual. He goes off into a weak form of hiding and is more likely to hold a silence. While it shows his immaturity, it does eventually blow over and Thorfinn makes up his mind to strive for his goal all over again and behave as though such behavior never takes place.

Abilities: He happens to be rather fast and fairly strong when it comes to combat. Thorfinn fights closely in range, relying on a pair of daggers and his own body. However, he loses composure easily and sabotages the odds of a better outcome.
