As I mentioned in my Wish review, the plot of this movie is kind of a hot mess. It very much feels like a movie that went through at least three or four major versions of the plot, and many of those elements are still hanging in the film like vestigial limbs, leading to a very disjointed and nonsensical viewing experience. Meanwhile, there are like 5-second sequences slapped on like pieces of duct tape in order to hastily close up glaring plot holes, which makes me think there was a strong need for this movie to release on a schedule and it was shoved out the door half-dressed.

Anyway, since this Franken-movie has the suggestion of three or four other coherent movies in it, I thought I would make some suggestions about how it could have been fixed by deciding on just one version of the plot and changing the elements to fully cohere with that central plot. So here we go: 4+1 better movies Wish could have been.

Welp, that's done. About 4 hours of my life diagnosing this movie that I'll never get back. You can suggest topics for future posts for this meme over here.

As Snowflake Challenge did not do a goal setting challenge this year, I suppose I need to stop procrastinating and write-up my 2025 Fanworks and Goals Review + 2026 Goal Setting post on my own. Hey, at least I got this done before August this year. 😆

2025 Fanwork Output

In 2025 I posted four fics. (In 2024, I posted six fics, one graphic, and one vid. In 2023 I posted four fics and two pieces of art.) My word count totals were:

Published words: 7,147
My estimated 2025 end of year word count (including unpublished WIPs): ~13,000

I decided it was in the best interest of my mental health to not precisely tally how many words I wrote last year, but my rough estimate is 13,000 words. (My published/total words for 2024 were 16,824/24,330.) Considering the strange and somewhat difficult year 2025 was, I'm alright with this. I try to remind myself that prior to 2022 those numbers were essentially zero, and I would have been overjoyed with with even 1,000 words at that time, so 7,147/13,000 is wonderful in comparison!

Review of 2025 Goals

I set my 2025 goals in this post last year.

· Write a minimum of 30,000 words and work on writing activities for a minimum of 180 days.

As stated above, I ended up writing roughly 13,000 words and my Get Your Words Out year end total was 82 days. Short on both counts, but such is life.

· Write a minimum of 5,000 words on one of my Quodo long-fic ideas.

So, this didn't happen, but I wrote around 4,500 words for a new Quodo WIP... Does that count? (jk lol XD)

· Complete an original short story.

Nope.

· Make at least one fanvid and one piece of fanart.

While I did not finish it, I did start a fanvid for Quodo Week last year. I was trying to only use clips from "Necessary Evil" (the prompt was Early Relationship/Terok Nor), but ran into some difficulty and didn't finish it. I hope to return to this project as I like the bits I did complete, and I think if I include clips from other episodes I'll be able to push through the issues I was experiencing at the time.

I did no fanart last year. (I did attempt to draw a Quodo piece, but I struggled with the initial sketch and lost patience with myself pretty quickly.)

· Post a minimum of 10 Fannish 50 vid recs.

Heh, so, I posted 2 Fannish 50 vid recs. I also started numerous other F50 vid rec posts that I did not complete. Towards the end of December I decided I was going to round all of those up to create a 2025 Fandom Wrapped as expressed through vids post... which I also did not finish lol. I'm still hoping to complete that post since I've put a lot of work into it and liked the idea of doing a Fandom Wrapped post that way. So hopefully more to come regarding this matter?

2026 Goals

· Work on writing activities for a minimum of 120 days and work on creative activities for a minimum of 180 days. I dropped my GYWO habit pledge to 120 days this year and have made a separate tracking sheet for "creative activities" which will encompass writing, vidding, making graphics, etc.

· Write a minimum of 5,000 words of one of my long-fic ideas. Instead of specifically intending this goal to be for my Quodo WIPs, I'm opening this up to the possibility of it being done through some new long-fic ideas I've come up with for other ships/fandoms. (But if I'm being real, it'll probably end up being Quodo lol.)

· Make at least one fanvid. I dropped the art goal, but the vid goal stays.

· Post a minimum of 10 Fannish 50 vid recs. I'm leaving this as is because I think it's a reasonable goal and I do want to post more vid recs!

· Post 5-10 horror movie reviews/short essays. Last year I found an article titled 50 Arthouse Horror Films To Put On To Make Your Friends Hate You, and I very much want to go through the list because I love arthouse horror! Additionally, Oh My Horror has created a weekly themed challenge for each week in 2026 that I would like to participate in at least a bit. Between these two projects, my goal is to write a review/essay for 5-10 of these.

So, basically, the story of this is, I always buy a small panettone every year and share it with someone (probably/usually my mom). Well, usually I buy a small one at the local Ralph's grocery store, but we see them around -in various sizes, at various locations, but for the first time, this year we saw a package of three small ones all together at Home Goods.

"Let's buy that!" suggested my mom.

Well, if you know me, obviously I wasn't going to reject that idea. Therefore, the idea for this card was born! Thank you, Mom!

Hallo, hope everyone's been well! January was a rough year, but at least February's proving to be a shorter one.

Like usual, I fall off of Dreamwidth about midway through January for whatever reason and then come and go like a hummingbird too jacked-up on sugar-water to remember where its roost went.

I have been resolving for months to do the [community profile] weekendwritingmarathon weekend challenge (to do it every weekend, in fact!) but I keep being extremely burnt out by Saturday, and then use Sunday to get all my chores done, and then suddenly Capitalism has shoved me back into its little hamster wheel and off I go again for another week! I've been also documenting my travels with ADHD for the last three quarters of a year, and there's a very specific and hefty amount of that which blocks my ability to focus, both on creative habits and self-care. So it's been pretty rough.

However, I managed to wangle myself back into my WIP's doc for [community profile] everwood ficlets and [community profile] rainbowfic prompts, and managed to tidy up two shorts which are now up on both communities.

The first, Creature Comforts, follows a short blurb about the dryad Daphne and the lumberjack Boyce, from Daphne's point of view. (I love writing from her perspective because Boyce is not a small man, but she is just as big as he is and probably is twice as strong. It's fun trying to get into the heads of the POV characters as I go through each of these ficlets!)

The second, Blood Siblings, was posted nearly a year ago in Everwood, but I hadn't popped it over onto Rainbowfic yet. It's about Brandili's misuse by her political-marriage, her escape from that, and her burning desire for revenge when she realizes that her husband knew of her hiding place all along and had in fact been allowing her to think she'd escaped him. If everything else lines up, I'm looking forward to when she can slice him up with her badass old pirate's sword or have her real beau shoot him through the heart with a cursed arrow. Forgiveness for past wrongs? Nahhhh.

Everwood is composed of many characters over about a decade or so and it's got a sort of ensemble, episodic bent to it, but I do have an overarching plot and message that I'm trying to weave through it all: Found family and found community are stronger in their day-to-day moments than the unceasing sprawl of colonization... and working through the everyday poison of the effects of colonization can in fact be what makes those bonds stronger. It's meant to be hopeful, in the end. Every one of the characters in this story are weird in some way and a lot of them are on the ropes. There's something about writing them recovering from all the blows they've taken that makes me a little happier.
