and updating my [Big Damned Flanvention] report, especially when I only have stupid little tidbits to post about now. Like the time when Sean started choking on his water and Nathan rushed over and performed a very, er, enthusiastic Heimlich maneuver >_> ("Nathan Fillion: Making everything more gay since 1996"). Or the bit when the guys were asked which character they'd want to play other than their own characters, and Alan said he'd like to play the Captain, "only not gay." (This prompted
vandonovan and I to guffaw and wonder how that could be possible) Then he amended: "...okay, maybe less gay," which is still laughable, but in a good way :). Ron said he'd originally read for the Captain's role, and Nathan said he'd originally read for a black man's role.
I wish I could remember a good spazzy Sean moment, but aside from his choking event nothing's coming to mind. He's got great flail-y arms, though. I love it when extraordinarily pretty people like Sean are spazzes. It's like, "awww, look, you're gorgeous and yet not unrealistically perfect! You'll put someone's eye out when you get excited, and that makes me respect you!"
We weren't allowed to record the cast commentary of Out of Gas, but I'm hoping that it was being recorded in some official capacity for us to get a hold of at some point, if only because Alan kept making these asinine comments in a mildly "special-needs" kind of voice, pretending to be confused at every change in the timeline.
Alan: ["special needs" voice] But I don't understand, he wasn't wearing a shirt just now and now he's wearing a shirt, what is happening?
Nathan: ...have a cookie, Al.
Alan: ["special needs" voice] ...thank you.
Meanwhile, Adam would voice whatever Jayne was thinking at that point in the episode. Sometimes it would be as simple as "ungh?!" haha, but he had other hilarious things to say as well.
A very satisfied Nathan, on Mal hitting Jayne's arm when he reached over to taste Simon's birthday cake: Scene stolen.
As we watched Mal put the catalyzer back into the engine, Nathan mentioned that he personally added the upcoming moment where Mal pats the engine once it gets going again, as Mal's way of letting Serenity know he wasn't angry with her (awww)..
Alan: You know, I really enjoyed your performance in all of this, except this one part that's coming up... wait for it...
[Mal pats the engine]
Alan: Yeah. Didn't like that so much.
Heh.
I really hope somebody makes footage from the panels available soon. I know people were videotaping them (not the cast commentary, of course, but everything else), and I neeeed to get my hands on some footage! Or a transcript! Anything! *craves, makes gimme hands*
