...
Well, I'd read the spoilers, or at least the hints at spoilers, despite my best efforts at ignoring them, or trying to forget them, but in the end, I was still like, Jesus, this really sucks.
I think Teyla said it best: I feel a great sadness.
Okay, mourning (and many shots of David Hewlett's Best Woobie Tear-Filled Eyes) aside, what the hell was with this episode? I spent half the episode going, "wait, who the hell are you? What? Who the hell is that? What? WHAT? Katie Brown? What? Who the hell are YOU? WHAT? WHAT? WHY IS THIS HAPPENING? IS RODNEY SEEING GHOSTS? IS HE CRAZY? IS HE ASCENDED? HOW IS HE--? WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?!?!" (that last bit is said in Xandir from Drawn Together's voice)
So, I don't know what to make of this episode. There were some great character moments, and I kind of rolled my eyes so hard they got stuck when everybody started hooking up, and WHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN MARRIED, JOHN? And Carson/Paul leaving just makes me emo sad. And just - WHAT? WHAT THE HELL, MAN? I dunno. But we got lots of David Hewlett's Best Woobie Tear-Filled Eyes! I kind of felt like it was nice that David got to "mourn" Paul's leaving via Rodney :(. I've been shipping them since even before ADB, but especially hard since a recent interview in which he goes on at some length about how happy he is when Paul is on set, and I'm kind of like, *SMOOSHES YOU TOGETHER OMG BFF!!!* and now that era of glee must end.
But otherwise, you know. Whatever. *handwave* Seriously, what the hell? I'm so confused.
Also, I'm sad because

... yeah, basically that was my first thought, too. But I asked my roommate, and apparently other shows like Scrubs and Six Feet Under (okay, maybe not the best example) have done scenes like this: talking to dead people who talk back, to wrap up the end of their character. In SGA we can use the half-way-to-ascention logic, but apparently these 'kind' of scenes don't need that in writer-land (a mystical and spiritual and .. ugh ... kind of place).
I hope Paul will be in Starcrossed, even just for an ep or two to pop his head in and say 'hi'. Can't wait to watch a Dog's Breakfast; I assume much hilarity will ensue. :D

Date: 2007-01-17 02:31 am (UTC)God, I HOPE Paul's on Starcrossed. He was so excellent in the movie that now that he'll (apparently) have more time, it seems a crime for him not to do the show.

Date: 2007-01-18 06:17 am (UTC)I mean, the crazy personal life hints were interesting (painting? Katie the fern girl? Marriage wtf?? Random Noah Wyle clones chatting up Weir? Also John and I have the same taste in music HAHA!) and I think fandom has been waiting for John-in-uniform since ep 1, but man! Were the writers on crack that day? Explosive tumors? That doesn't even make any sense, and that machine could have been handled so differently, and so awesomely. What about like, spontaneous combustion?
And I actually said, out loud, "OH NO. THEY DID NOT JUST KILL CARSON."
Except they totally did, and I totally didn't expect it, and I liked him! Just earlier in the episode I was so entertained when he was talking about the space trout he was going to catch :(
Wah.
