Oh, hey, look at that, I can post to LJ using my text-based browser again, and not have to make e-mail posts anymore!

This discovery brought to you by the free server I was e-mailing out of being down today, and me having a lot to post about, thus testing my luck and having it work out :D.

So without further ado, here is a HUGE-ASS GUILD WARS UPDATE:



Last night after vandonovan went home I logged on for some uninterrupted laziness and playtime. None of the usual suspects other than Harley were online, so I thought I would probably not be able to get any of my tough missions accomplished. I figured I needed to get a location added to my map for upcoming ascension-only quests to change my profession with Neriah, so I fought my way through to get that. With 60%dp most of the way. Hydra are so evil! I fail to see what purpose they serve, other than to be a blight to my existence :P. Anyway, so I did that and since I had nothing else going on, I asked Harley if he could, or would, help me get Thirsty River under my belt so I can ascend already. He said yes, and we set out... and failed. Once, twice. After a few hench swap-outs and a class change for Harley, though, we finally succeeded! And got the bonus, too! It was AWESOME. So exhilerating to finally finish that one again, after trying so hard. Lordy, I hate that mission >_<.

After that, I went to fight my doppleganger using only sacrificing spells and attunements + flare, and click-click-clicked my way to a victory + bonus (it's unnerving to be at 40% health and unable to heal yourself, though, ahaha). So that's FINALLY taken care of! I think I'll do the Monk and Mesmer quests. Not sure the rest would really be valuable for me. At least I can always do them later.

After that, I asked Harley for help with Maree at the Gate of Madness. I didn't even want to try this one alone because I have seen the Wiki on it and it seemed way too complicated for someone dumb like me to take on two end-game bosses at once (not to mention the portal wraiths, god how I hate chaos portals and torment claws). So Harley advertised over alliance chat and we ended up with 4 or so other alliance members helping out, including one who like me just had to finish the last two missions to end the game. I thought this mission was quite hard! We had two near-party wipes, and one person dropped connection and couldn't get back to us, either :(. So it was close a couple of times and we ended up carrying on largely to see if we could. In the end Harley said this great thing about the "two tanks" blocking a mob in a doorway, and I suddenly realized that *I* was one of the tanks, being a Dervish. Ahaha I'm still not used to thinking of myself that way, since Dervishes are so squishy and sexy ;).

THEN, we did the final mission \o/ which was not as hard as I'd thought it would be... just your usual constant onslaught of mobs and no chance to really rest and regen. So you have to be on the ball. Master's reward is to complete it in under 20 minutes, and we did it in under 12. Ahahaha. AND THEN WE WERE DONE! It felt almost anticlimactic. I'm excited, and have a new shiny max dmg weapon and all, but I'm sort of like "awww... there's no more?" I can, however, do the quests to gain the remaining heroes I skipped, so there's that, and then I have to level them, and then I can always work on going around Tyria and whatnot. But still ;_; no more Nightfall plot for Maree.

I wonder if part of my lack of enthusiasm is because I knew how this story would end. I got so close to the end, that I could see the end in sight and knew what I'd have to do, etc. In Prophecies I'm still so far away from the actual end of the game that I have no idea what plot twists are ahead of me or what it all means yet. So I'm looking foward to finishing that game not only to finish it, but to find out what the story behind it all is.

Anyway, YAY for finishing a campaign finally! What a bleedin' relief :D.
