Note to self: make some non-friendslocked posts in the near future. Visitors to my LJ will only see that I play Guild Wars, which is BAD. Even if that's all I've been doing this week. >_>
Last night I did a boatload of farming, interspersed with hours of play. The farming was NOT fun, the playing... moreso. Let's see, what did I accomplish....
Out of curiousity (and in hopes of better drops) I took Nanashi to Chahbek Village and completed the Masters on Hard Mode. That gives 1k as a reward, so there's that. It was devastatingly easy, pretty much just like the original, even though all the mobs were level 22+. And I got ONE DROP. One. It was purple, but. NO coins. Nothing. I was... disappointed, to say the least.
So I heard Vanquishing is good for drops. So I Vanquished the Plains of Jarin. It took... a bit over an hour I think (I'm kicking myself for not doing /age and finding out how long I was in that zone before leaving). I party wiped three times, which sucked (the culprits were Skale Lashers and Storm Jaracondas. Damn lightning damage). It was through this that I also realized that poor Dunkoro has no +energy armor! Hahaha which, of course, it's Nightfall. But I was watching him cast spells and I was like "...wait... you only have like 30 energy and you're my MONK? GOD." So I need to beg/borrow/steal some Radiant Insignias for him, stat. Oh, and for Vanquishing that area I got around 3p in coins + drops, all told. In an hour.
In an hour of tedious character farming, I make over 4k. So. Although
vandonovan pointed out that it only takes one black dye drop to make up the difference, which is true, but I find fighting so many high-level mobs to be stressful and risky (since I suck as a player) so I'm not sure I'm willing to keep trying, in the hopes that I can get one HUGE drop one time. I don't know. Also, I got no special HM drops like tomes or lockpicks or anything. So I'm pretty "meh" on the whole thing and not inclined to do it again.
Somewhere in there, I had finally farmed enough to buy another ruby (if I recall correctly) and a couple of sapphires. Farmed more gold for the armor cost and bought Fairuza some boots! I was so tired of looking at her ashy scar pattern bare feet. And the boots go kind of nicely with her Shing Jea armor.
Got tired of the farming and logged off for a while, then got back on with Neriah, since what I've decided is that I want to get her the Sunspear armor (I think it suits her and her bejeweled hair). She was level 9 with around 1200xp to go, so instead of doing the Cantha ferry, I did Ruins of Surmia for mission + bonus instead. Surprisingly, I'd earned enough xp to level before I'd even done the bonus (before the first cutscene, even), hahaha. Did that, and then went to Cantha and did all the annoying back-and-forth messenger quests for a few easy levels. By the time I'd left there, I was level 14. Two hours of play and 1500 coins (don't you just love how I'm laying out the cost of everything now? I'm ALL ABOUT THE MONEY). Still wearing AL7 armor, though, sob.
So what I need now is for some high-level ally to assist me in getting to Elona (and then... uh... farm the money for the armor, hahaha). I'm going to be excited to see her in her new armor! Her old incarnation was totally unsuited for it, I think.
My current Vabbian armor total is boots for Fairuza, gauntlets for Nanashi, and 2 rubies and 2 sapphires in storage. So I could get Nanashi's boots if I wanted, or save up for the body armor. I'm kind of too impatient to save up, though. I'm like "but I have enough for boots now!" This is why I can't have nice things.
In other news, I was looking at the Ranger Vabbian armor (I KNOW. I KNOW.) and I think Parminder would look good in it. >_> Her last name (Kaur) does mean Princess after all! She wants extravagant, bejeweled things, apparently. The Kurzick armor, which I'd been eyeing before, doesn't really seem to be up her alley. OF COURSE. Of course I would need to get EVEN MORE expensive armor. But then again, by the time I can afford it, EotN might be out and better armors along with it, hahahaha.
.....until then, more farming!
