So here we go. I already had a fair number of pics saved and/or capped from various moments I wished to squee about, but for this picspam I went back to the pilot and will go in episode order. Just helps to have a system, I suppose.

Serenity - Pilot


Okay, Mal's eyelashes make a subtle debut in the pilot episode. Here is a promising shot in which Zoe looks at him sidelong and his lashes peek out to say hello. [Screenshot from Still Flying dot Net]

Why, that's not so special (although that Nathan Fillion sure is pretty), you might say to yourself. Well, I warn you, it's only a hint of what's to come.


Mal helps Simon and Inara operate on a gut-shot Kaylee. Here is what I have come to call Angsty!Mal lashes. See, when Mal is angsty, he looks down and/or blinks a lot, and his lashes cast long shadows on his cheekbones, and I squeal, "MY WOOBIE!" and then I lose track of all time. *stares*

Yeah! So, anyway! Angsty!Mal lashes. This is a staple of the Firefly verse. You'll see them again.

Mal and his eyelashes like to sit in profile. I agree with this particular directorial choice. 'Nuff said.

Awww then he gets himself into trouble. And Inara's mascara-ed eyelashes compete with Mal's for dominance. MAL WINS.


"Don't take his offer." Aaannnd the Angsty!Mal lashes of doom appear. See, this cap was nice and all, but there was this moment where he looked up for a split second and you could see through his eyelashes and I just fracking melted. But alas, the moment passed too quickly for me to cap, try as I may. Curse you, Nathan Fillion, and your flickering eyeballs of mad dramatic skillz.

Man, even Whimsical!Mal has pretty eyelashes. So. very. pretty. In fact, he's just straight up pretty in this shot. Let's all take a moment to appreciate this, shall we? I'll wait.

Concerned!Mal, which is not to be confused with Angsty!Mal, but is close, and gives good eyelash profile. I'm not picky. *stares*

Out of Gas

I'm afraid this is another shot I had to settle for (although, Jesus Gay, you can see how THICK those lashes are!) because there's this awesome moment where his eyes flicker upwards and his lashes lay all smooth and pretty against his browbone and I'm like lajsk;foiwajefwefa NO FAIR! But it happens too fast, yet again. Though to re-iterate: PRETTY.


Okay, his eyelashes are practically brushing the ceiling in this one. I hate him. And by hate I mean want to have his little long-eyelashed babies.

And on that note, I'm going to bed, for it is late and I have a long day ahead of me, with many more screencaps of Nathan Fillion. Work, work, work!
