Randominity

I'm a little annoyed with myself that I haven't been doing these chest runs since the keyless chests first appeared in January or whenever, but I'd always been afraid of them. I'd been thinking, like, "oh, sure, keyless chests, and I bet you have to fight your way to them for two hours and party wipe a dozen times for a measly 500 gold. No thanks."

But recently I've been just character creation farming for gold and getting around 5p per hour, which has been.... eh, nice, a necessary evil, I thought. And meanwhile people have been posting on the GWO forums that they get around 20p per character by doing these chest runs. And I thought, hell, I will give ONE chest a try and see if it's worth my while.

So I took Maree out to the easiest of the chests, in the Issnur Isles. Bam! 500+ gold plus a gold drop in 5 minutes. Mehtani Keys - BAM! Another 500+ gold and a gold drop. Less than 15 minutes total. Awesome. Went over to Kourna and did the easy ones there... then to Vabbi.... and what do you know. I even got a diamond drop (which I thought of hoarding for EotN for about one minute, then sold to the trader for 3p instead). All told, I made over 10p in around an hour. Which.... yeah, beats character creation farming hands down. AWESOME.

Tonight I took Nanashi out for the same run. It took a little longer, because she didn't have every one of the locations I tried mapped at first. But this time I made 8p total (I didn't get a gem drop, emo).

I haven't even sold my gold items yet, either! Even if I just sold them to the merchant I'd easily net a few more platinum. I'd really rather try to find out their market value and trade for them, though. If only I had the patience for it..... >_>

There are a couple more locations in the Kourna/Vabbi areas that I haven't gone through yet because I don't have them mapped with any of my characters. I intend to give them a try soon enough. The "hard" ones - in the Desolation, and the Gate of Pain - I have no interest in pursuing. Fuck if I'm going back into those areas unless I absolutely have to *shudder*.

But - OMG! nearly 20p in two hours of play! That's.... a world of yay for non-farming me. I can't wait to take my other characters out and do this as well. And then again next month. And the month after that. I can already afford to splurge on a couple more pieces of Fairuza's Vabbian armor as it is :D. Oh, happy day.
