Shmuck

Am I the only shmuck who pre-ordered Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and am not planning to be at a midnight opening, and am therefore not going to have anything to say about the book until, apparently, everyone in the world has already read it? I mean, I pre-ordered it! I already paid for it! I don't want to wait in line for a bazillion hours just to pay for it again, even if that means I can read it before the sun rises! Does this make me a bad, movie-preferring fan? Will I be all left out on July 16th, missing all the best discussions and reactions, forced to catch up on the dregs afterwards, after all the good comments have been made?

Please tell me no. Lie, if you must.

I pre-ordered, because I dislike large crowds and I have work on Friday. So I'm having Amazon deliver the book to me at work. :D

Dood, I'm pre-ordering it too. It's the SANE thing to do, if you ask me.

Well, I think it's sane, too, but I was afraid I was the only one :).

No, it just means you have a whole lot more sense than some other people.

I'd really love to say no, but the answer is, unfortunately, yes. You are a bad fan, and I'm going to have to defriend you now.

I pre-ordered and planned on reading straight through until it was done. Then I realized that I will be in vacation in another state, leaving the day it is supposed to be delivered. I won't have LJ access that week so I'll miss the discussions but I'm rather disappointed that I won't be able to get the book until I'm back. I actually considered having the delivery address changed to the cottage.

I totally think you should change your delivery address. Why deny yourself the ability to at least enjoy it over your vacation?

My baby is due the same day the book is (how cool is that, by the way), so I also pre-ordered, in order to avoid being in labor at a Barnes and Noble.

While I am commenting, will there ever be a "Hexed" epilogue? Just asking cause it's one of my most favorite fics ever!

Oh, wow - first of all, congratulations! Did you plan it that way? ;) (j/k of course). This way you can be reading the book in the comfort of your own home while you go into labor! Brilliant :).

As for the epilogue, I don't know what to tell you. I have so much of it written and planned out, but I keep on not having the opportunity to really sit down and wrestle it into something relevent and worthwhile. I get sick or busy or travel or something. Bah! I still want to finish it, though... I just don't know when it's going to finally happen. Thanks for the interest, though - it does push me to want to try harder!

I haven't even preordered and I'm not going to queue anywhere. I'm just going to pick it up when I can and then read it when I can. So there! However bad YOU are, I will be worse. Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice.

I have pre ordered, paid for it and yet I will be picking it up at Midnight. I go to the Midnight Releases not to get a jump start on reading, I am exhausted when I get home at 3am, but because I LOVE being with all of those fans. It is an amazing experience each and every time I have gone and in fact, GOF was where I learned of fanfiction. This time we are going to a party that is supposed to be one of the biggest in America. We'll see. They are closing streets and there are all kinds of events and games and food and triva and just general love. Wow that sounds soppy. Anyway, I have met some really cool people in this fandom and that is why I go. It doesn't matter when you get it, goodness knows we will all still be here and ready to talk about it!

See, if you're there for the party, I think I can better understand that. I mean, don't get me wrong - I'd like to have the book at midnight, myself - but I don't know any of the big HP fans here and I know I wouldn't have fun at a party where I didn't know anybody :). But I sure would love to have my hands on the book before the postman comes.

So I take it you'll have a nice nap when you get home and then dig in later when you're all refreshed? I'll just be glad to know that whenever I finish it, the initial hype won't be "over." Things move so quickly on the internet that it's hard to say, you know?

Enjoy the party!
