NAME: Elsword
CANON: Elsword
CANON POINT: After Rescuing the Wind Priestess in Sander (Lord Knight Route)
AGE: 16
BACKGROUND: The story of Elsword follows a group dubbed the "El Seekers" whose original goal is to retake a large El Shard stolen by bandits, as the large El Shard is the only thing that keeps the area around Ruben Village fertile and relatively free of monsters. Their journey quickly spirals out of control into a struggle that will see them face Nasods, an ancient menace, demons, and eventually they even have to confront the past surrounding the El Masters. Primarily the progression of the game is handled through what is sometimes subtle changes of each playable character's personality which depends on the job path chosen to take. This particular Elsword has undergone the route of Lord Knight, and the progression of his skill is also reflected in the time the journey takes him as Elsword gradually ages into each tier of strength and skill he unlocks for himself.
Elsword's Prologue (Resolution)
The game story, a journey across Elrios
Elsword the Knight (13 years old) | Sword Knight (15 years old) | Lord Knight (16 years old)
PERSONALITY:
Elsword has a lot going on under the hood, especially on the Lord Knight path, but getting back to basics, Els is extremely hot-blooded and full of shounen energy. The only problem with his act first mentality is it leads to Unfortunately Dumb™ and is a running joke the game plays with almost to death, he really doesn't like to think deeply on situations and would rather mow down threats to his friends and family instead of trying to solve the world's problems with pure brain power.
At least early on he acts like he tries to avoid thinking at all, and Els is definitely a tremendous brat early in the game, constantly bickering with Aisha over almost anything. His heart however is always in the right place and while he might sound like an overconfident teen sometimes, Els is more than willing to put his life on the line for people he cares about, and even strangers as he perhaps unconsciously believes in the power of friendship. He is also very willing to trust, almost to the point of naivety unless he's been shown that he shouldn't offer that trust. This somewhat pure personality has managed to recruit a few allies, a very notable example being Eve, as the Nasod Queen likely would have never joined the group without Elsword taking initiative.
It's impossible to talk about Elsword without at least a mention of his sister Elesis. Elsword's entire background is basically him training himself so he can hope to measure up against her, and seeing her as being on some lofty platform that's there for him to reach someday. While it might be apt to call it an inferiority complex, such terminology is ill-fitting as Elsword is never angry about his sister, and in fact idolizes her greatly. He just never thinks of himself as being on her level and that she's always a step ahead in growth both as a swordswoman and a person. On the Lord Knight path he follows the closest in her footsteps as his goal is to master the sword to her level of skill and perhaps this also lends towards his more serious personality, though both siblings are still prone to bouts of silliness and immaturity.
Another important point is that while Els is bratty early on, he is very friendly and when not handing out a prideful swagger to the bandits he's chasing, tends to get right into being social with everyone around him for both the purpose of just being friendly as well as practicality and trading of information. This leads us finally into a little more of the Lord Knight path as it's something of a departure compared to his other job paths. Lord Knight can still show some hot-bloodedness as that's Els to his core, but it's tempered by a seriousness his other paths lack, as if he's understood the principles of being a Knight besides having good swordsmanship. While definitely aware of the constantly growing stakes at all times, Lord Knight seems to weigh this a bit more thoroughly and holds himself more accountable, acting a bit more as the leader the rest of the El Search Party sees him as. This predictably would weigh more on the redhead as well, but Elsword is also the type to hide any of his doubts and troubles to keep everyone's spirits up.
The nature of his relationships with everyone is extremely complex, but he handles his close friends much as he does anyone else he meets. While he's to the point, Els is anything but unfriendly about it and is fast to make friends. Though some bonds are a bit more rocky than others as evident by his relationship with Aisha as while the two might see eachother as best friends since they've traveled so closely together, it's hard to tell that at a glance. He also is quick to give respect where it's due, looking up to both Rena and Raven as not quite parental figures, but more like older siblings that know best. In Raven he also sees a teacher for the sword, which again ties back into his constant quest for growth to match his sister. To point out Elsword's potential naivety, several people had mixed feelings or were aggressively neutral about allowing Add to join their ranks, but he saw no problem with it as Add had helped them and given Els no reason to distrust him, a decision that so far hasn't backfired on him. So to summarize: Elsword is a mature yet bratty, thoughtful yet naive, and serious yet playful teen who still has a lot of growing up to do, that perhaps outside the confines of home where he has to grow up faster than most would like to see him do in the face of constant struggle, his personality may round out a bit nicer.
POWERS/ABILITIES:
Elsword is strong, physically. Maybe, possibly, not on the level of super strength, but a great example is his original sword basically looks like a large, solid plank of metal and he wields it one-handed almost effortlessly, and this is at his base job and age of 13. Most people would struggle even with two hands.
He also possesses some pedigree for fire magic, that seems to run in his family, but Elsword has had no formal training so any fire he uses is mostly instinctive and conjures itself mostly as energy from his sword strikes and can do things like temporarily rend the earth, conjure a literal sandstorm tornado, and more still. He can also cast wind blades from his sword occasionally with his slashes. These are speculated to be due to the lad unconsciously heating his sword and the pressure change causing the fabled anime "vacuum cut". Elsword can use all the abilities and combos on these pages which reflect several years of practice:
Base Elsword | Sword Knight | Lord Knight
Elsword also possesses an ability I likely won't make use of know as Way of The Sword, which pretty much only exists for gameplay mechanics.
INVENTORY:
His clothes, his greatsword, some jerky
MOONBLESSING: Iris
