Encryption App + Techie... Stuff
oh god I haven't done one of these in ages/ever what is happening
A couple of weeks ago, Charles made a telepathic broadcast calling on people to work with Tali here to upgrade the old secure-communications app from Beta - so that characters who want to talk about things without COMPASS knowing can do so on the public network. And people came together and work happened and some weeks later, it's being rolled out!
This link contains all the information about the network update from Beta (nu: doing the work in the past so I don't have to in the present) and this is the same thing for all intents and purposes, but to summarise - from early week 12 (starting with a network post from Tali which will probably go up tomorrow), anyone with the right passcode can post content to the network which is hidden from COMPASS. This'll obviously be a lot of use for anybody planning things against COMPASS or giving out information that COMPASS probably shouldn't see - for example, news about illicit gun stores, aha... haha...
The password will be given out by word of mouth and it'll change regularly, which means the first people to know what it is will be the people working on it and probably anyone actually leading any resistance attempts (note that Tali is not leading any kind of resistance anything). While it's totally okay to handwave your character having gotten passcodes from someone, this is always a good way to work on CR with people! \o/
SO one of the reasons to make this post is to get a headcount of characters who would be involved in working on the app, who could basically be points of contact for the app info/passwords. I know some people might want to be involved who won't have had time or whatever to contact Charles or Tali, so basically just making everyone aware of everyone would be cool, I was thinking.
On an IC level, Tali will know who was all involved, and since I'd personally like to use this as a way to get more people involved in working with each other For The Cause, not just with Tali, I am basically soliciting people for a Tech Nerd OK Cupid. That is, if you want more Nerd CR, just feel free to say that Tali played matchmaker and set participating people up for all this tech work, since it's an ongoing thing and all. (also totally hit up Tali any time for tech nerd CR - I love and would like CR with you all)

Well if anyone needs Catherine for anything, she'll be making heavy use of the filter and would keep in close touch with Tali! If they need any help rebuilding tech stuff COMPASS trashed, she'd graciously help with that too.

The main precaution is just that her name's never been mentioned on the network, although Charles had to give her name out telepathically to get the ball rolling, so there's very little Tali could do if someone actually went to COMPASS. However, everyone else working on it is completely safe because only a very small number of people (possibly only Tali herself) would know they were involved. So really, Tali's not personally shielded to a great degree ahaha

He's good with tech, but the physical and material side rather than anything computerised. So if he couldn't help with much, he'd just do whatever he could to help.

he's basically only good for manual labor in this department (i.e. supply runs, moving heavy shit, etc) but he likes being helpful, so if there's anything he can do i'd love to know!!
