π Hey there, Iβm Robert

I’m currently based out of Amsterdam, NL π³π± πͺπΊ (After many hops from living in US-BOI > US-SEA > UK-BOH > US-RAL > US-PDX > NL-AMS).

Professionally, I lead strategy at SureStep, a boutique risk and compliacne firm that specalizes in helping firms design and implement GRC & Finanical Crimes platforms. I previously led the GRC Advisory practice until my recent relocation to the Netherlands where I stepped into a more company wide strategy role working on GTM, key initatives, and supporting our leaders and sales team members.
In my free time, I contribute to the Fedora Project primarily in Fedora Communtiy Operations and supporting different activities the team is doing (data projects, events, etc.). In the last few years, I’ve focused more on how community engagement changes based on the perceived value of return from community members and how that impacts open source community health. (Ask me about how GenZ is changing FOSS communities!)
Here’s a set of fun facts:
- Ik spreek een beetje Nederlands (A1 - bijna A2!)
- My favorite artists are ODESZA and Antoon. I also really love ChillHop.
- I am working to reduce the amount of digital technology I use in my life. I carry a written notebook nowadays rather than an app for notes.
I am particularly interested in:
- PostgreSQL doing crazy things π
- IBM OpenPages, which I know way too much about how it works
- Minimalism, after you move around as much as I have, you learn to live simple.
