[Oh, Dipper. Peter will get you to ask for help sometime, but as it is, he doesn't mind helping out... even if he thinks at first it will be a hangout]
Yeah, of course! I'm up for hanging out. Got something in mind?
[ she'd sent him a text on the sly while reuniting with elena and damon-- i'm back, i'll come see you after i catch up with elena. (damon gets no mention; damon needs to stay away from peter.)
so it's longer than she'd like, but eventually bonnie's stood before peter's door, chewing at her lip before she knocks because-- ugh, why is she hesitating? just knock, just do it. ]
[it's hard to wait. peter's been- well, he's been really worried because he knows a tiny ounce of what bonnie's world is like, what she returns to. it's scary to think about, and he can't follow her there obviously. they have met each other in this place which is in between where memories are stolen and they're batteries
but it's real. it's real to him. he opens up the door when he hears the knock, and he lets out a soft sound of relief.]
Bonnie. [it's said after a moment as a lopsided smile pulls on his face, and then he reaches out for her. his hand frames her face, and he leans in abruptly to kiss her with the strength of how very much he has missed her
Hey. Yeah. She's alive now. She came back like they said. I don't know how okay someone is after dying and coming back, y'know? But she's back. I'm okay. Just freaked me out. I've seen people die before but that was....
[there's a pause at the sound of her voice. he didn't expect to hear from her, didn't... he doesn't know obviously what bonnie said (there's an ache in his chest when he thinks about bonnie because he misses her a lot). he's kept to himself a lot lately, going out sometimes to patrol the halls. to make sure people are safe. it's spider-man's thing that he hasn't been super great at doing since he got here. he's been more peter than spidey, but he's seen how much wonderland needs-- it needs more spidey. his room is filled with all his notes, broken pencils, notes taped up on the walls. pieces to different puzzles in wonderland.]
Hey. Uh, no, not busy. Not really. I'm in my room. You can... just come in or I can meet you somewhere if you want.
[Peter gets (wrapped up with obvious difficulty but also with care) a Polaroid camera and various extra film. With nowhere near as much capability as his usual digital camera, Max wonders if he'll ever really use it. But she honestly feels that film has its own sort of appeal, and an instant picture is both unique (only one copy in the world!) and gratifying.
...And cute. Come on.
At the end of the day though, they've hardly ever talked, and Max is more than a little awkward and nervous dropping this gift off at his door. Hopefully it's a worthwhile present...
A small tag reads, "From your Secret Santa. I hope you like it... :) Merry ChristMax!"]
[Peter loves the Polaroid camera. He has a digital camera which does its job well enough, and he can edit those pictures as much as he needs to for what he's using those pictures for, but there is something unique, gratifying about taking instant pictures like this instead.
There's no editing it.
It is what it is. With that in mind, he steps into his room to snap a shot of his kitten as she claws at a toy she got for Christmas.
He gets only the paw in a shot. Later, he'll leave that picture on Max's door with the words "Thank you for the gift :) You helped me have an awesome Merry ChristMax!"]
[ He sends a text rather than just calling outright because he doesn't know what the kid's frame of mind might be. If he knew what room he was in, he'd just go knock on his door. As it is, he's kicking himself a little for being delayed in reaching out to him because he knows he probably can't be in the best headspace. ]
[ Peter has done an excellent job of completely ignoring the fact that he died and came back to life. He's referred to it in his head primarily as 'waking up'. Since he usually sleeps a whole day after Events anyway, it's sort of fitting except this time his heart was literally not beating. Kurt's the person who knows what actually happened.
He's the one who was there, and it's why Peter's heart does this hammering thing inside of his chest at the reminder that he can't completely pretend like it didn't happen at all. ]
Yeah, hey. I'm here. I'm fine. Nothing to worry about. All pieces are working like normal as far as I can tell so it's no big deal, and uh.
Thanks for making sure I wasn't just lying on the ground when I woke up.
[So there's a winter event and the snow's starting to get a little ridiculous. But the lobby area has proven to be a good place to meet people in a healthy environment, for once. It's even a place to get a better handle on people he met with the mask on. How will relationships be different in person? Jason kind of has to know.
He'll spot his spider-shaped friend looking significantly more humanoid than usual and engage casually, nodding over the steaming mug he holds in both hands.]
If you're cold, there's cocoa over there. Not sure who made it, though. Maybe no one did.
( This Event is hard. It's harder than it should be. It's harder than it is for most people around here, because Peter can't avoid anyone like he normally would and he can't save anyone because no one really needs saving so there's no running around as Spider-man either. He's just stuck in a small space with a lot of other people, and so he does what he does best, tries to remain undetected. His shoulders are in a constant state of tension as he presses himself up to the wall.
Because he doesn't actually want to be social at all but Wonderland's forcing him to not be a total hermit. He lifts his head over to the other guy. )
You're offering me cocoa but also telling me it's mystery cocoa? How's it taste?
There aren't? That seems like a personal attack right there.
( he shakes his head, biting down on his lip, staring at his computer where he happens to have a graphics making program. he hasn't used it much, but- hrm. )
( Despite all the chances, everything going on in Peter's head lately, he hasn't stopped thinking about Elena's absence in the midst of all the other complications in his head. To say it's a relief to hear from her, it'd be an understatement. Sometimes people feel glad for those heading back to their worlds, but Peter knows better when it comes to Elena's. It's dangerous. It's terrible. To know she's back, it's a relief. )
Elena! You're back. Thank God.
Yeah, of course. I was worried. Billy was too. Are you okay?
Peter. [ The night of his arrival is kind of a blur. It's important he gets in touch with his old friend again. He'd knocked on Peter's door once, but it was 7am at the time. Dude was likely still asleep. ]
( okay, okay. so mj has been somewhat incommunicado since georgia's whole republican convention event. that was a mindfuck and a half, and mj is totally not equipped to deal with almost any of it. but today is a very special day, and she would be remiss if she just let it pass by like any other day. she leaves a gift at his doorstep, along with lola einstein, who decided to hang with mj for most of the day. he'll have to open the door for his cat at some point in the evening, right?
inside the box is a vintage instant camera, along with a picture of the two of them, from the day peter was teaching her how to selfie and mj was disparaging his every pose/facial expression. the sentiment she is trying to convey through the gift itself is possibly obvious: he doesn't need someone else's photo album.
he can make his own.
happy birthday, peter parker. mary jane watson is celebrating you. )
( peter has noticed mj's absence lately. it'd be impossible not to, and he gets he- well, they were childhood best friends there. he knows all about her childhood, and he no longer has to question if the watsons who are neighbors to his family back home- he doesn't question that they're the same as mary jane's own family. a drunken asshole of a man- he remembers a long time ago seeing glimpses of red hair and a child he never really met, because he was always hiding back then.
he regrets it deeply now. in so many ways.
but he leaves his room to find the camera, the picture waiting for him outside of his room. it hits him intensely, dramatically, beautifully. she's- she's managed to do this despite all the pain, despite all the difficulty of having so many people know her so well. he laughs at the picture and then holds the camera up in front of him. he stopped taking pictures after his last camera was stolen from him, and seeing this one, it just bursts through him.
maybe it is time he starts to make his own photo album instead of aching over a life- a life that isn't and won't ever be his own. try not to be heartbroken about it as his hand tightens over the camera, and he'll send mary jane a quick message. he'll give her privacy. he'll give her a moment to maintain her privacy here after giving so much of herself, but- )
thank you so much, mary jane.
( she's the first person he takes a picture of with his new camera. so she'll know. he's using it. he's using it with her. )
[Freya knew the moment the item was placed in her hands that the item wasn't something of Wonderland. She could feel Bonnie's magic coming off the camera in waves, and while she doesn't know who it belongs to, she does know it's something that should be returned.
After that, all it takes is a small locator spell, and Freya navigates her way to the person's last known location - which happens to be Peter's front door. It only takes a moment after that for her to knock, and when the door opens she extends the camera out to him.]
( Peter has a pack of crayons in one hand when he opens the door. His hair's already a mess. His clothes already rumpled from his experimenting with what he received through- through whatever the hell is happening. They didn't get any warning this time.
He doesn't miss out on that.
But still he doesn't expect- He stares, opening his mouth and then closing it again. )
that's kind of a huge question so it might take a little while. i mean, there are a lot of running theories happening at any one time. of course we get new details all the time, but often enough they're just not actually answers to our questions. they're usually just more questions and parts that give us more to ask about, but i do keep a list and a board of what we know or what we suspect, and i work a lot with other people too trying to piece it all together
( if this kind of situation had happened at home, the odds of mary jane packing her bags and heading off to florida or somewhere else that's sunny would be very high. at least until she remembered that she isn't, despite her best intentions, the kind of person who abandons her friends.
but this is wonderland, and wonderland doesn't let her so much as try to run out. there's nowhere to run. there's no chance of her simply stepping aside. she'd eventually end up back in the mansion, right where she started, with this huge revelation still looming on her shoulders.
she and peter have been through so much together. so many events and non-events alike. it needs to be her.
so she knocks on his door at a later hour. she waits. )
( peter has good days and he has bad days. they tend to melt into each other to the point he's not always sure how many days it's been since he fell through the rift- since he'd heard the snap of a spine that forever resonated in him. about the choices he makes, about the costs it has to other people. mary jane gets him to smile. she gets him to let the rest of the world melt away and remember what it is like to feel happy, warm.
she's a bright spot like a star in the dark night sky-
he hears the knock, and he knows if he answers, whoever opens the door will know. it's one of the not-so-good days where he wrestles more with guilt, with anger, with grief. he moves to it, reaching out, opening the door.
his mouth parts at the sight of her- )

there's a reason she's here beyond just keeping him company. )
