As the moon makes it through this madness
CHARACTERS: Chell (
goodjumper) and GLaDOS (
lovestotest)
DATE: 7/30 (Week 1, 01)
RATING: E for everyone
SUMMARY: GLaDOS knows some very personal information and if Chell doesn't play along, she'll let the secret out.
She was tired, hungry, and miserable. Sure, there was food but the food had trouble staying down due to lingering seasickness. The night before she had slipped into an uneasy sleep. The dream had been short, but it was vivid even now. His face, the gun, laughing..
The presence of cold water almost didn't register on her numb and bare feet. One broken longfall boot and one that still worked and wanted to compensate for the motion of the ship made wearing them impossible. So, over rusted and broken floors Chell had explored unprotected. To keep herself awake, to keep from thinking of the water all around them, her exploration finally brought her to the far end of the hold's hallway. Standing water pooled near the door, reaching as far as her ankles before her hands found the locked door.

She was pulling though one of the rooms examining it's contents, mainly just scrap, when there came a shuffling sound from the hall. Bare feet on a metal surface. Who would be going around barefoot? She cantered over to the door of the room to just catch the silhouette of a woman in a tied off jumpsuit. There was only one person that it could be.
She only followed Chell silently for a small distance before the other came to a obstacle in her path. She could easily take the moment to remove the test subject and snuff the threat out before it became worrisome, but there was that voice again; tugging in the back of her head. "So I see you have made it to this metal cage. Did your friend make it, too?" The inflection in her words were made with a smirk. To most, it would be obvious that she knew something had gone on between her and Wheatley.

The tiredness Chell had felt a moment ago came back ten fold as the realization became clearer. On the island people had room to run should GLaDOS decide to turn particularly homicidal. Here, well.. there were places to hide, but nowhere to run to. Nothing could go right, could it?
Though the water was cold, Chell elected to stay in the ankle-deep puddle if it served to keep her at bay.
"Yes. Won't cause trouble for you." No use lying about Wheatley being here. She'd notice his network posts eventually. He was too scared to do anything to bother or harm her, so hopefully they'd just stay out of each other's way.
A small smirk crossed her lips then. "Waterproof?"

She leaned up against the steel wall and took a more relaxed pose. There was no point in making forcing her to stay. Where exactly could she go?
"Oh, I don't expect him to make trouble; for me at least. Though I feel maybe you should be more careful when it comes to him." The android glances down to brush a small amount of dust that had collected on her shoulder. "After all, you put yourself in quite the precarious position."
no subject
"Don't know what you mean." Her eyes fell to the darkened puddle. There was no need to jump to conclusions, she could be talking about anything. No...it was always the worst case scenario with her.
GLaDOS couldn't possibly know about that..that strange misguided conversation. It was something Chell hand't allowed herself to think about and had been the furthest thing from her mind in this new place. The surely false confession and confused discussion with Eike had been over private messages, how could sh-
Hacking. Chell's blank expression slowly turned to anger and her glare returned to her. GLaDOS had read those very private exchanges. How dare she? How very like her to monitor and pry and-ugh. How could she forget to lock something so important? Furious with both herself and the android before her, Chell's hands balled into fists.
How many punches would it take to break open that metal skull? How hard would she have to slam that smirking face into the wall to make her forget what she had no right to know?
no subject
"I'm sure you remember it. That night you talked to Eike. It really was quite touching." GLaDOS stared directly into Chell's eyes, wanting to see just how much she panicked at her words, "Maybe I should tell Wheatley what you think of him."
There was a extend, pause as GLaDOS pushed herself off the wall and walked even closer to her favorite test subject with slow and measured strides. "What exactly do you think he'll say?"

"And don't think you could fool me," she was enjoying this, pushing the girls buttons. Pulling that strong confident individual down. "You aren't good at it. And really, you don't come off as the type to lie to who you like to call friends. But don't worry, I understand. You are afraid, like all human's get afraid. What if he truly hates you? He did before. What's stopping him from tricking you now?"
no subject
"You can't ruin this. We're stronger than you."

GLaDOS didn't make any motion to stop her. Chell could walk away all she wanted, but there was nowhere she could go that GLaDOS couldn't follow. The metallic woman kept pace a few footfalls behind the other. Just close enough to goad her. "It really does sound all so familiar, doesn't it? Chell and Wheatley, on a mission. To escape those that attempt to suppress them for their own good. He is a robot. His emotions are set in stone, and he will betray you again."
She let out a sigh, feigning exasperation. "And then you will come back to me asking for help. Like last time."
no subject
"If it happens, I can handle it on my own." She swallowed, trying to spread the indifference to what Chell had shown weakness on a moment ago. "And it won't even work if you tell him. Wouldn't understand. Might as well talk backwards to him."
no subject
She stopped in her tracks, not worrying if Chell walked on or not. "Well, if we have already listed our variables and formed a hypothesis, then the next step is experimentation. Let's put it to the test." GLaDOS veered off a nearby hallway, waiting for Chell to try and stop her, make a motion, to get nervous. She called back, slowing half step, "Unless, you don't want me to. But I would have just a small favor to ask in return."
no subject
Chell rushed after GLaDOS, easily catching up with her. "He won't believe you. All you do is lie."
no subject
Chell had to know she was right. No matter how robotic he could be, he thought, acted, and processed like a normal person. And he would let that thought eat away at him.

With a deep breath, she regained step. "What do you want?"
no subject
"This is such a small favor, only a change in behavior on the chance that you cross paths. Deal?" GLaDOS stopped and extended one cold, metal arm in Chell's direction.

GLaDOS kept her handshake firm, holding it as she spoke. "Oh, and if you didn't know. That means everything. No talking, texting, or notes. You are not to acknowledge him."

"It's this, or I tell the bot what you truly think."

She could just go back to murdering GLaDOS. A trap on the deck, a good bucket of water... No, not till she knew if death was permanent on the ship. If it wasn't, trying to murder her would make things worse.
Fine, ok, Chell could agree for now, but work out some sort of plan around this. She'd find a lasting solution, then at least beat the shit out of GLaDOS afterwards.
With a sneer, she reshook her hand. "Fine. Deal."

All she had to do now was watch her little test subjects writhe under her observation.
