CHARACTERS: ratonhnhaké:ton/connor (
bastard_kenway) and anders (
magerights)
DATE: week 14, day four.
RATING: r for attempted murder.
SUMMARY: anders tries to kill connor, connor gets worried because why friend do thing.
The temptation of getting just one more deer was hard to resist. Despite his current smoking operation leaving him with a good few pounds of meat, Connor still fretted about another week of creamed corn, and how that would effect Amaterasu and Lady– not to mention how he needed (or felt the need) to eat a lot, and being a burden because of that was not something he wanted to have happen.
That, and it felt good to be able to hunt again, here in the calm of the forest. Whatever was going on in town was firmly not his problem, and as long as he stayed far, far away from the Mist, which was easy enough, all would be well.
(Tentacles would haunt his nightmares for weeks.)
He was not so much hunting as wandering, not making an effort to tread especially quietly, sure in his ability to navigate back to his camp when night fell. It was almost like being home, honestly, although this was technically Algonquin territory and not Iroquois- not that it belonged to either group now.
When he heard an especially loud crunch of leaves and twigs, Connor turned to greet whomever it was and found Anders, not minding the flight it caused from the local wildlife, squirrels skittering off or to higher branches to watch.
“Anders.” He smiled lightly. The kindness the mage had done for Jesse, as well as Anders’ general thoughtfulness and his plight back in his home had Connor thinking of him as a friend. “It is good to see you.” He slung his bow back over his shoulder, slipping the arrow back into the quiver as well.

He recognised Connor and stopped, a smile tugging at the edge of his lips, though it wasn't for the reasons the other man likely thought it was.
"It's good to see you as well, Connor," he said easily. "Are you out here alone? Or with that wolf you were talking about before?"
Because if the animal was here, then Anders had something else to be concerned about.

“Alone for now, yes. My friend is busy right now. The town is too... busy for me, so I am here.” Connor gave a little shrug.
Also, it seems COMPASS was not pulling any mischief in this area. The lack of electricity and running water did not bother him.
“Are you alone? Are you searching for something? I have become familiar enough with this area.”

"I'm looking for somewhere that we could talk, privately," he said then, watching the other man carefully. "Just you and me. Do you know somewhere nearby? Where we won't be overheard?"
Then he wouldn't have to waste much more time.

"I am sure I know of a place." The little smile is replaced with a frown. What could Anders possibly want. "... what do you wish to talk about?"
How private did Anders need? They could go deeper into the woods, nearer the Mist, or perhaps Anders would prefer something defensible, like Connor's camp.

Just somewhere far enough away from others that Anders could do away with the man without it being noticed immediately. Maybe he wouldn't even follow Connor all the way to wherever the man decided, maybe he'd take him by surprise before then. The idea was certainly appealing at the very least.

"Very well. What is the nature of the matter, my friend?" Again, Anders got a little smile, though Connor was starting to get an odd sinking feeling that something more serious than he suspected was about to happen. Just in case, he started to walk away from where his camp was, waiting for Anders to catch up or at least walk somewhat by his side.
"Are you healthy? safe?" Anders was certainly powerful enough to keep himself out of danger. "Does the matter have something to do with me? I hope I have not offended you."
