perspire) and you!
DATE: throughout Week 14
RATING: R
SUMMARY: Bertholdt is trying to keep it together, but that's kind of hard to manage when all trying does is get you turned into a vampire.
WARNING(S): Character death (limited to one thread); possibility of violence, blood, sad things, and spoilers for Attack on Titan
( days 2-4 )
[ He tried to sleep, but it was hard to do. Whenever he closes his eyes, he finds himself dreaming, if you could call them dreams. He remembers the monsters in the mist and it is not long after the monsters that he saw here show that he sees the other monsters, the monsters that he knows like the back of his hand show up. He spends most of his nights in the hotel awake, either in his room, looking out the window, or wandering the hotel.
When he is in the rec center, he focuses himself on training. It helps takes his mind off of things, the repetition of exercises. Bertholdt splits his time equally there between weight lifting and running. Clearly, he is doing a lot of exercise with the amount of sweating that he is doing. Clearly.
In the gardens, all he does is walk amongst the animals. Even if they are fake, it is still the largest amount of animals that he has ever seen. As he walks through the gardens, he can't help but raise a hand to touch the topiary animals, half wishing that they could be real. But he doesn't spend all that long wishing, instead he moves on to the next one.
And sometimes he just spends time in the dining room, eating. Bertholdt is a big boy and he needs big plates to fill him up, even though he's gotten used to only getting what was needed for him to make it another day, or even some days getting nothing at all. ]
( late in the evening day 5 and early in the evening day 6 )
[ Bertholdt's hungry.
But not for the food he was eating just days before. No, the hunger he has now is different. Every person looks like a meal and he's not sure what to make of that. Too many thoughts swirl in his head and he can't handle them. All he knows is that he can't fight off his urges for that long: Bertholdt needs to feed and he needs to add more to their ranks. He tries to hide in the town, but it seems like he can never pick a good place to hide, and each person he comes across just seems to weaken his resolve. ]
[ ooc: late evening day 6 and day 7 is closed, however everything else is open! ]

CLOSED | this is horrible | DAY 6-7
As he hides in a building, he wonders how Annie is doing. He hasn't seen her for a few days. He hopes that she's alright, that she's safe and nothing has gotten to her. Bertholdt isn't quite sure how he'd take if should she get hurt or what he'd do to anybody who decided that she should be injured. All he knows is that she's... important. That's the best way to put it: important.
Important enough that he's decided to get up and leave to find her. ]

Her mind was filled with nothing of but how she just wanted to be hit something. It was hard to focus on anything beyond her rage. She was just angry. She wanted to break someone—to hear the crack of their bones as she twisted a limb too far back or into a compromising situation. To push them to their limits.
It was honestly a marvel how she hadn't run into anyone yet despite wandering around for a day already like this. Or, maybe she did? Everything was fuzzy—a haze. There might have been someone... Her roommate perhaps? Did they have another altercation? Annie had been doing her best to somewhat get along with her since they were both stuck in this messed up place together.
But then it all comes to a halt when she saw her first real target in what felt like days. ]
Berthodlt. [ She's completely unhinged when she speaks. "He'd be perfect for some fun. He can take it. It won't have to end so quickly..." ]

Then he hears his name. Bertholdt turns and sees Annie. Suddenly, he feels a wave of relief flood through his body. She's alive, she's safe. He stops himself from running towards her. They're both not the type to express relief in that matter, and he's sure that she would hit him if he wrapped her in a hug. He stays put, rubbing his arm awkwardly.
But, that smell. It's still in the air and Bertholdt doesn't like it. It never means that anything good will happen or has happened and it's putting him more on edge than he was before. ]
Annie.
[ He wants to stay with her.
He wants to tell her to go away.
He doesn't want to tell her that she should kill him ]
Something's happening.
i /just/ realized I typo'd bertl's name. why am i even in this canon
All of the anger and agitation seemed to melt away from her the more she embraced the brutality. If only he was closer to her for all of this. Surely no one would be too suspicious of them if they were in closer quarters, right? Given how long they've both been here and no one has said a word already, they had to be in the clear. ]
What's happening? [ She approaches him closing in the distance between the two of them. There's a small almost playful smile across her lips. Her hand reaches out towards Bertholdt's hand as visions of the multiple ways she could break it and bend it just to watch it mend itself back together again played in the back of her mind. ]
Besides the obvious, of course.

Mikasa had gone to scout ahead (or rather, Eren had made her), and he stays in place to watch their rear. Being on too-high alert, when he hears the a shifting noise he swirls around quickly, crowbar held in front of him—
But it's Bertholdt. Who he'd been worried about anyway, so that works out okay. Trotting up, he talks low, just in case. ]
Geez— [ he lets out a quiet, relieved puff. ] you scared the crap outta me. What're you doing out here?
[ Tremendously hypocritical, but he didn't want to see anyone wandering out alone. ]

Eren alone. Eren alone makes him a better target to-- no no no. Bertholdt shakes his head, trying to clear his head ]
Trying to get away. [ From you, from everyone. ]
How... how about you? Where's Mikasa?
[ Because she should be somewhere around here... ]

So Eren simply quirks up a brow at how vague an answer he gets, tossing his head back in the direction Mikasa'd left. ]
Went out ahead. She'll be back.
[ Knowing her, she wouldn't leave him alone for very long, so he takes the breather while he can. His gaze keeps flicking to and fro their surroundings, watching out for... cars or toothy undead or whatever. ] We're trying to find someplace safe too. You should come with.

And at the idea of being with Eren and Mikasa. It would be a good idea. More people means more protection, especially when the group is made up of them two. Thoughts run through Bertholdt's head, of Eren and Mikasa fighting against threats, getting more and more tired, leaving him free to just reach for them and--
No. No. He shakes his head, trying to dislodge the idea before it takes root. He shouldn't, he really shouldn't.
But he wants to. ]
No, I... should stay on my own.

I'm not gonna carry you over my shoulder and make you, but you'll get yourself killed out here.
Day 5
She carries a big gun for a reason.
She gets paranoid. She gets defensive, and flees back outside the hotel, knowing that when sundown comes she'll have to go back for the safety of high ground. She could take her chances, but it's just as bad outside as it is inside. She's getting paranoid. She's getting trigger-happy...trigger-happier than usual. It takes her a moment to arrest her shot to realize that stalking, hiding thing isn't some beast- it looks strangely familiar.]
Come out, fool, before I blast your brains out.

Sorry.
... Sorry, it's me.

Do you have a death wish, you idiot?! What the flark is wrong with you?
