Week 16 Days 1-2
CHARACTERS: Zelos Wilder (
luxuriant) and OPEN
DATE: Week 16 (Days 1-2)
RATING: Probably blood, gore, that sort of thing. Aside from that no warnings I can think of.
SUMMARY: MOSTLY healing the injured, but also some smaller prompts like checking out the train, trying to ignore that dumb noise and having glaring contests with the eyeball in the sky.
Also it's silly to mention, but Zelos has quite a flashy appearance so: He doesn't have his pink coat or his gloves on.
A) Day 1 (Train Station)
[He was already at the scene of the crash by the time his watch started ringing with friends and acquaintances asking for his help in all of this. The crash had been loud enough that his ears picked up on it from his room, and if that hadn't been enough anyway, there was a familiar, irritating and eerie sound across all of the campus. Likely the whole city. There was some way to work with his hearing, tone it down or cut it out so he could focus, but he hadn't grasped it yet. It was usually by accident, relaxing and goofing around (while he actually could have used the ability) when it left him. Great.
But there's hardly any time to think about that. Managing a couple quick replies to those who reached out to him, he runs to the train, hopping atop the knocked over first card of the train with all of the others who were trying in various ways to get inside. To help and heal and take out the injured.
He moves for the situations that seem to be left unattended. Small or not, his healing isn't as grand as others here, so it'd be a help to do anything he could for anyone and save some of the time for the others. He keeps thinking it might be easier to just focus on a healing wind, a whole circle to cut out multiple people at once— but then there's the memory of someone screaming and squirming under his magic, acting like it was poison more than anything else.
His fingers curl into fists at his sides, but he pushes his own thoughts aside and moves forward, reaching out to offer a hand to whoever he manages to encounter that's in need.]
Hey, you're okay. Come on, let's get you out of this thing. Mind if I heal you?
[He keeps that up for as long as there are injured, even after his mana runs out. The only signs of this are the occasional breaks to lean against sturdier walls and the small winces he might give while casting magic. (This is of course after plenty of heals.)]
B) Day 2 (Still Train Station)
[Now that the injured were taken care of and removed from the train, there was the matter of taking advantage of what they could. Opinions seemed to be split on the network as to whether this was a good idea or not, but Zelos isn't the type to waste time on that. It happened, didn't it? They better make use of it while it was still around.
The moment he sees the familiar machine that managed to take them home from the boat, he feels even more right in this. As dangerous as messing with it was the last time, too, it held the answer.
He doesn't know much about technology, but that doesn't mean he can't poke around. If there's anyone else in the area, he's going to be sure to drop by and point out what he knows from Beta (in the case that others may not recognize it), or at least encourage them to prod at it themselves. Come on, he doesn't know what to do!]
C) Day 2 (Outside and in view of the eye)
[For all the serious stuff that had been happening, the huge eyeball in the sky was hardly a comfort. First, this deafening, creepy noise, and now this? He was on edge because of it. Careful not to do too much out in the open, and sending glares its way when he had to. Even occasionally launching a fireball its way only to have it disappear and reappear elsewhere. Annoying.
Serious feelings aside, though, Zelos usually found... different ways to express himself. Like angry gestures at the thing after it dodges another one of his attacks.]
Man, that is so creepy! Would you cut it out already! [A heavy sigh follows as his shoulders slump.] Geez, can't a guy get some privacy?

Man, that is so creepy! Would you cut it out already! [A heavy sigh follows as his shoulders slump.] Geez, can't a guy get some privacy?

b!
Zelos-? [ he says it more to himself, afterwards quickening his steps and calling out: ] What're you—?
[ he sees the train's inside for a brief moment once he gets close enough, a few steps behind where zelos was, double-taking from the other to the train, where the sight makes him go silent, eyes wide, and shoulders falling. that was- ]
That's— That machine . . . ! [ it probably shouldn't be a surprise— but somehow, it is, and for a fleeting moment, home feels like just a hand reach away. ]
no subject
Don't get too excited. [This is his form of greeting today. Pessimism after all of his inner optimism about it. Because that's his job, right? He knows things can go wrong in a million ways. Not to get his hopes up.
Even if he thinks this is a great lead. He doesn't want Enma crushed by it if it doesn't work.]
There's no way it's going to be as easy as pressing a few buttons. Who knows how long they're going to leave something like this out here, either. I'm surprised it didn't vanish over night, actually...
no subject
thinking over it with more rationality, it was going to be a lot harder than pressing buttons- ]
Should we even . . . Press anything? I dunno—
[ was it a trap of sorts if it's still here? they couldn't just ignore it, but what if something else happened if they poked around-? ]
no subject
[Zelos says this immediately, waving his hand in a negative fashion. Honestly, he feels a little bad for shutting the kid down, but what else can he say? He just frowns a bit, letting his hand fall back to rest at his hip as he eyes the thing.]
We should save it for people who know more about what they're doing with this sort of stuff. At least their guesses would be intellectual.
no subject
—Maybe there's something else in there? [ something they could take note of, anything— anything useful! he rolls his shoulders, peer into the train once more. ]
Don't have to touch.
no subject
[Stepping forward and carefully around the way the train's tilted from the crash, Zelos makes sure he has a good footing before offering his hand to Enma to help him further in as well. Have a look around... May as well, right?]
I never thought we'd actually be able to see this thing up close...
( 1 / 2 )
I can do that.
[ haha yeah ok
always an adventure— but we can't have adventures without some one sided bad luck— in enma's case, letting the klutziness within take a nice breath of fresh air and say hello to the open word. ]
( 2 / 2 )
W-whu—!
[ but luckily, zelos' hand was there and luckily, enma had the time to, as he flailed down, grip onto him frantically, but that's where we hit an impasse. whether it's his arm or his hair, or even his clothes— whatever he manages to blindly grab, enma doesn't see! velocity and weight with the fall had only a bit of impact down at least, like catching a weight in mid air— a weight that was a walking accident jesus christ ]
c!
The giant eye in the sky, though. The giant eye in the sky, though.
Getting acquainted with the general way things were run in Zelien meant realizing that there mode of operations were mostly slapdash quick-fixes for people ousted from their worlds on the prerogative of some malevolent corporation going by the name 'Compass', which wasn't the least bit optimistic. But then he ran across the peculiar sight of airborne fireballs. They seemed certain for impact, aimed on a direct course for the luminous pupil in the sky, but seemingly blinked out of existence itself once they reached a certain radius surrounding the eyeball, only to torch a random tree a split-second later.
O-k-a-y. ]
Is that ordinary here or something? [ Yep, Elliot making dubious gesticulations at the gigantic eye now as he approaches Zelos. It's not like a stranger shooting fire out of his hands passes the gauge for normality, but between two evils, he'll be more prone to take the humanoid, less ominously disconcerting of the two at face-value. ]
no subject
Raising a free hand in a shrugging, whirling gesture, he sighs.]
What, the giant eyeball in the sky? No, actually, that's new. But if you're talking about weird things appearing out of nowhere, then yeah. I can't say I'm really surprised about it.
[Dropping his arm back to rest at his hip, he looks the stranger over, all while commenting (perhaps a little too casually).] It's seriously starting to get on my nerves.
no subject
It's a silver lining in an otherwise shitty abduction to see that people aren't completely desensitized to near-omniscient beings, whether manifesting itself as a discreetly covert organization or literally a gigantic eyeball condescendingly staring down from the sky and passively thwarting any efforts at retaliation. ]
I'd be disturbed if it didn't. [ Arms folded, the sides of his mouth lift sullenly, a grim smile without an ounce of warmth whatsoever. ]
Would it be in bad taste to ask for a run-down of what I should expect?
[ Yyyyyyeah, Elliot's more than a bit unnerved by how casual the guy is about nightmare fuel, but it's only to be expected, given that there were people caught and detained here long before his arrival. ]
no subject
[It might be even more unusual that Zelos reacts in surprise, as small as it is. But he's laughing shortly after anyway, waving off his own question with a shrug. Right. So he's not the best at this, but if someone asks for help... Why not, right?]
Well, sure, why not! Let's see... If we're talking about recurring things here, there have been a couple times where there have been these funky holes in the middle of the air all over the place. Kind of likes windows to other dimensions...
[If his expression is anything to go by, he's completely aware of how bizarre it all sounds.] Uhh. You know, maybe I should just summarize it to 'expect the unexpected'.
no subject
What do you mean, "kind of like"? Did you step into one of these portals or something? [ Prompted by the ludicrous absurdity of it all, he abruptly facepalms. If his tone reeks of disbelief, it's because he just doesn't know how to respond. On one hand, he'd never actively turned down from a high-risk situation, but on the other, it wasn't as if he'd plunged straight into the fray of calamity without an actual rationale behind it. ]
On that subject, how about escape attempts? What progress have you all made so far?
no subject
All of the things in this place, and the most awkward for him has been explaining what's going on in this place.]
Some bugs came through them before, though. [So... Yeah. They seemed like it!] As for escape, well. We used to be stuck back on a ship, and we made it home from there...
But uh, it didn't really take care of the whole evil organization thing. They took most of us back.
no subject
But people have. [ C'mon, there has to be someone in this jacked-up place who's taken the plunge. ]
Then how the hell are we supposed to retaliate if they won't give us a chance to? [ AS IF COMPASS WAS OBLIGATED TO PROVIDE AN ESCAPE ROUTE AND A MORAL CODE, HA HA HA. Elliot is too fixated on the honor code of knights to realize that sometimes it doesn't matter if the situation's terribly one-sided. ]
It's obvious, right? We head straight to the source and force them to leave us alone.
no subject
[Zelos continues to be a clearly helpful role model by being blunt as hell. Cuts the thoughts with a sharp gesture of his hand and a shake of his head.]
If things were as simple as you're making them out to be, do you really think so many people would just be stuck hanging around here? [Crossing his arms next, he frowns.] The source isn't exactly out in the open. There's no way of forcing or bargaining our way out of here.
no subject
I wasn't saying it was simple. I just don't think it's a good idea to get comfortable here. Waiting isn't helping anything or anyone. [ A pause. ] There's nothing they want?
no subject
[Ah, here he is, the epitome of friendliness. But after that comment, he folds his arms and considers the question.]
What they want is test subjects. They haven't announced it in a long while, but they used to be pretty open about this being a big collection of information on fear.
no subject
[ how did you ever make friends zelos wilder ]
That still doesn't explain the particularity they took with it. Besides, why should we trust anything they tell us?
C:
She has her gear on these days as a matter of course, barely takes it off, and stalks from one end of the campus to the other with her hands on the hilt of her blades.
It's difficult to ignore the eye, but it's easier to ignore people. She's basically made it nearly the whole day without making eye contact with anyone, but it's somewhat outside of her realm of concentration to ignore actual fire shooting through the air. She stops in her tracks, startled, then looks around for the source --]
How are you doing that?
no subject
[Of all the people he expected to comment on his shenanigans out in the middle of the street, Mikasa isn't even on the list. But a glance confirms that the voice does indeed belong to her, and that's only a little curious once he realizes. Magic? Maybe it's weird. He sure did freak Jean and Eren out that one time...]
What, you mean this? [In another flashy display, he calls up the magic in a few brief seconds before firing it at the eye's new location (only to end up frowning as it misses yet again.)]
It's magic. I'm human, but I can still use magic thanks to some technology from back home.
no subject
After a moment, she moves closer with a few long strides, peering at him a little too intently.]
Magic isn't real. [It's said matter-of-factly enough, and she tilts her head, trying to get a better look at him to see what piece of technology he is exactly talking about.] Then does that mean it's something I can do?
no subject
He can't help a light laugh, opening up both of his hands to reveal that he wasn't holding anything. Just his hands, arms bare for once all the way up to his shoulders.]
Maybe it's not real where you're from, but I can assure you, that's what it is! [Smiling, he lowers his hands to his hips, eyeing her curiously.] Humans normally can't use it. You normally need elven blood to be able to cast any type of magic. So sadly? You probably can't.
no subject
She frowns when Zelos shows her his hands, her gaze flicking up to his face as he continues.] Elves aren't real either.
[Suddenly she feels like maybe he's fucking with her, so she stands up straight and folds her arms across her chest.]
You said you're human, though. So where's this technology?
no subject
[That Elves aren't real, he means. Short laugh passed, he raises a hand one more time, this time to wave the question off.]
It's in my blood! It's not the kind of technology you wield. It changed how my body works, you could say.
no subject
Anyway, that response is even weirder, and she squints extremely scrutinizingly at Zelos's face.]
Your blood is different? [If she knew what nanotechnology was, she'd guess nanotechnology, but she has never heard of nanotechnology so this bracket about nanotechnology is completely 100% moot.
Frowning, she tips her chin forward a little haughtily.]
So what else can you do?
no subject
[He laughs as he says it. She can squint at him all she likes, but he's glad to show it by aiming down the street at a blank spot of ground and casting a lightning spell. It's a few seconds, but there's a magic circle that appears below his own feet before lightning strikes down out of nowhere down the street.]
I know a handful of spells. Fire, lightning, wind, earth... [Truth, sure, but he also has to throw in some exaggerations
or flat out lies.] I can even touch things and turn them into gold! Or walk on water!no subject
She's not actually sure if he's pulling her leg or if he's being truthful now... if he can make that happen, then why wouldn't he be able to conjure gold?]
Your world must not have any poor.
(option a) and hi T///Tv
At least for her, her powers have been getting a little extra practice and she's glad they've been helpful in aiding others at all- though when one of the groups helping move some of the other injured ones out knocks into her, she ends up being the one stumbling and accidentally knocking right into whoever it is that's leaning against the wall there and letting out a yelp of surprise as she grabs his arm to fall right over his side in the most graceless heap with her face against the platform.
And probably pulling the red blur next to her down as she does too.
It takes a moment for her to come to, her head spinning and the grime being angrily rubbed off her face as she glares in the direction of the guys that knocked her over, but they're long gone. ]
Bloody- Just because you're moving injured doesn't mean you injure more, damn you!! Hey-
[ She's still trying to rub her face clean as she grabs the guy by the arm, hoping he didn't hurt himself and her fingers glowing as her scan activates- she normally just needs a touch to know if people need to heal or are injured in any way, but it stops as she feels a sting around her own ankle from the fall, canceling it out. ]
Ow- you alright, there?
[ And it looks like she added to the injured, oops... She looks up, hoping whoever is next to her had a better fall than her at least. ]
hello!!! uwu
[Busy with his own attempts to maneuver through crowded spaces, no amount of reacting fast enough helps him with the stumble he takes. At least he's able to recover before completely ending up on the ground, grabbing at one of the harnesses for the passenger's and rubbing his head after it recoils from bumping into something solid.]
Ow, ow, ow.... [To echo her own pain, but it's quiet and muttered quickly before he feels the hand on his arm and blinks over.]
I'm fine, I'm fine! Didn't expect that, though... [Straightening himself a bit more, he's able to regard her face-to-face.] How about yourself? Didn't hurt anything, did you?
no subject
[ And even if she wasn't, the last thing she needs is to be telling a stranger that. She sits up as best as she can, pushing her hair back and off her shoulders as she dusts off her hands, but when she glances back at her ankle, she tenses. That twist is not a good one and her body doesn't seem to have registered anything odd yet- though she knows when she moves, it's going to be a long time before she stops cursing.
So she doesn't move it, instead trying to get a better look at who she just nearly sent to their doom, and she blinks as she takes in the appearance. Red hair, pretty face... her eyes glance down towards his body and she blinks a few times.
(Totally a bottom.)
But she doesn't voice that part, instead looking him over properly with the intention that she didn't hurt his ankle or rip up his clothes or something. ]
... Bloody hell, I knew COMPASS was being particular about who they brought in, but I didn't think I'd be right about the pretty boy theory. [ Okay, that has to be said- ] Think you can stand up? I'll feel a little less like I was almost guilty of murder if you hop to your feet just fine!
[ And if he can't, well. She's not a healer for nothing. ]
no subject
[Ignoring that he did in fact exclaim in pain earlier. Straightening himself and quickly dusting himself off, the pretty boy comment sets in and he laughs, adding a flip of his hair in for effect. It's a grim situation here, and he does need to hurry back to helping people out, but there's no harm in trying to lighten things up a bit for a split second, right?]
A whole theory, huh? Well, don't get too excited. You won't find too many guys around here who match up to my beauty.
scream this got lost in my inbox
But that name- ]
Zelos... Zelos... where have I heard... Ah!
[ That's it! ]
You're Lloyd's friend, aren't you? From that place I can't even pronounce! He mentioned he had some people around...
[ She hasn't moved from her place yet, mostly because she knows her ankle is going to hurt, so this is a good distraction for a bit. ]
Looks like you're okay, though. Here, help me up. [ She holds her arm out to him. ] Still have a bunch of patients to get to- pity I can't just have them look at you to feel better, but not all of us are that lucky.
[ Which is said wryly in part, mostly because she's got an oddball like him back home. ]
NO WORRIES
[Best... Well he might have made that up. But he laughs at the joke as he reaches out to take her hand, pulling her up swiftly and offering her a playful wink for the comment.]
Now, now, hunny, don't be so sure. As a skilled healer myself, I can bring pleasure both to the mind and body for my patients. Make sure you send the cutest ones my way.
no subject
[ Not that she doesn't believe him, but Lloyd's just mentioned him being a friend... and she's not about to diss that, really. But then, it's not like she knows the details, but when she's lifted up, she definitely feels what she was dreading and the grimace on her face probably shows it as she stumbles and moves a hand to the side of the fallen train and makes a small, grumpy sound as she glares down at her foot. ]
He didn't mention you were a healer too- bloody hell, that smarts- [ She tries to stay steady, though she is annoyed that her ankle betrayed her like that, but she glances over at him with a scrutinizing look. ]
Guess I'll have to disappoint you by being the one to ask first, then. If your good looks can fix that, I'll be grateful. Can't heal myself without taking more out of me than I should.
[ It's a quick fix with magic for someone else, but her power isn't as nice to her. ] Do you use magic as well?
no subject
[Making sure she's standing steady, he doesn't bother announcing as he works up a heal. She seems comfortable enough with how she words it, in this case, so he casts a first aid spell. The tingling will be noticeable in any bruised or harmed areas, and the pain will fade away into the soothing feeling. All in a matter of seconds.]
See? How's that?
no subject
Well. It's a good outcome, either way. She's still as she feels the awkward twist ease up and she blinks as she feels it settle, gently moving her foot before a small smile appears on her face. ]
Bloody brilliant, that's what it is! Good looking, and resourceful. I like that in a man.
[ Mostly for reasons most guys don't want to hear, but she finally stands up, glancing around for her messenger bag on the ground and picking it up. ]
Sorry for falling on you. Sure you don't need any help yourself, Mr. Great Zelos Wilder?
[ She shoots him an amused look, reminded of a certain someone she's left back home- and she adds ]
You look like you could use a good cup of tea yourself.
[ The exhaustion would hit anyone helping people out, here. ]
A.)
Zelos. [Hibari recalls the redhead instantly, though it appears he's nearing collapse. It's more than obvious why he stumbles. —He'd exhausted himself, as an herbivore would, though his efforts are clearly thankless. ...As he'd believed from the very beginning, such an unselfish man must be foolish at heart.] I'll gather the rest.
[It's not that Hibari's so much concerned (the fate of these strangers meant little to nothing), but, it's quite counterproductive to run from one place to the next.]
no subject
[Another sign that shows he's not quite feeling full energy is the delayed reaction to Hibari's presence. He lets the person he's just healed walk away and faces him more directly, reaching out to a wall in an attempt to make his leaning weight seem more casual.
He's kind of slipping at this point.]
What are you talking about? I've got it just fine.
no subject
[How strange. He can almost feel the magician's stubborn resolve; in a sense, perhaps, it rivals his own. However, (momentarily mirrored in this instance) such a virtuous trait, he finds more distasteful. In fact, it practically begs for reproach.] Lying to me is a different matter.
[Not that Zelos had reason to listen, just as Hibari required no reason to help.]
no subject
What do you care, anyway? There are tons of people around here who need real help. Go help one of them if you're feeling so charitable.
no subject
If you refuse, I won't forgive it. [As of now, his concern is Zelos. He wouldn't waste focus on anything else.]
no subject
Geez, what's with you! You don't have any debt to repay. [But if he's going to keep pestering him like this....]
I don't suppose you have any orange gels? [That would be too useful, wouldn't it.] I'll take a quick break, so get off my back.
no subject
[He passes the liquid off to Zelos, no explanation, or warnings to follow. Just a look that says "trust me", and nothing else further. As for what it contains, it's just plain, tasteless water. No mana restoration, but perhaps he wouldn't faint.]
no subject
Who knew you could be such a nag.
no subject
What a mess. And... how strange, to involve himself in this matter.
It's a good, long while before he returns, piggy-backing a victim, and looking unsettled. It's a tireless effort on part of the prefect, but unlike Zelos, he's offered no comforting words, focused solely on searching each body for wounds. He's back and forth between there and the train, shouldering some, and near-dragging the rest, casually dumping them all in uncomfortable lines.]
This was intentional, don't you think? [He speaks to the other, but still indirect, forcefully tying a tourniquet made of worn cloth.]
