You say it's your birthday!
Apr. 10th, 2006 08:10 pmI felt a little guilty that I did that birthday meme on Friday. I hope people didn't think I was being a big doofus or anything. Thanks so much for all the warm birthday greetings that people gave me today. I also got some nice presents! Check out the pretty artwork that
rexluscus drew--
ook made it into an icon for me, which was great! On
bronze_ribbons there is Passover porn. (Okay, not so much porn, but really Passover! Severus Snape whips egg whites! Hah!) There is also a totally classic
busaikko Snupin porn ficlet from her R & D storyline. It's both funny and hot (and soooo dirty that you'd better not click on it if you are underage.)
stoicstella made me one of her trademark birthday cards--it has both a rhyming poem and little drawings.
If I get any more writing or art goodies I'll link them here.
My husband invited our friends out for a meal at the Vietnamese vegan restaurant. It was just a few people but we had a really great time. We drank some champagne. Okay, not very much--most of my friends don't drink. I got very slightly tipsy on half a glass, and my friend joined me in singing "I get a kick out of you" in the restaurant.
Today I finally used the private yoga lesson that my husband got for my birthday last year. I'm going to try to make a committment to practice yoga on the days that my son is at preschoolcare. (I still don't know what to call it.) Once I finish this dawdling here on the computer, I'm going to finish kashering our kitchen for Passover. (I've scraped the kasha out of the bottom of the freezer, so I'm not too behind!)
My husband is thinking that for this birthday he'll give me a writing workshop. He hasn't been totally comfortable with the fan fiction stuff. I think it's at least partly because he's kind of shy and reserved, and the porn part shocks him, and so he doesn't want to read it. Even so, he's been supportive of my writing again after all this time. (He did read the first chapter of Heart's Obligations, which was nice.) I don't think I can use genre fiction in a writing workshop, and instead I'll have to show more of my own vision, which is a bit scary.

Date: 2006-04-10 07:32 pm (UTC)Lily, Severus and Remus were studying for Advanced Arithmancy in sixth year. They wound up in a three-way makeout session. Nothing heavy, just a girl and two boys kissing and touching.
How's that?

*chuckles* My boyfriend hasn't even noticed I write fan fiction yet, let alone read any of the pornier bits.

Date: 2006-04-10 09:53 pm (UTC)I tell my husband everything, and somethings that he doesn't want to hear. I was rereading a post from November, when I decided to write a story with gay Orthodox Jewish characters and he was like, "I don't want to know about ritual fringes kink. At all."

Date: 2006-04-10 09:57 pm (UTC)Your dinner sounded wonderful--Vietnamese vegan, mm! And a writing workshop wuld be really good, I think, and I don't see why they'd be against genre fiction (fan fiction, yes, there might be legal issues with that, but genre? How does one even draw a line these days?)
Have a great year, darling!

Date: 2006-04-10 10:02 pm (UTC)tongue sandwichnasty creative writing course in college. When I said genre fiction, I meant fan fic, which is to me a very strictly genred form. (One which I have violated repeatedly, bwa ha ha ha, with my insistence on anatomical labeling and historical fiction!)I don't know if I have to have anything written before I take the workshop. I will look. at what they have on their website.
