She finished--I sigh with happiness
Feb. 3rd, 2009 06:06 amYes, yes, I know I have other things to do at this hour. I'm just transported with happy sighs because of how
rexluscus ended her fan novel, Between Wind and Water. I love the way she characterized Norrington in this.
If you have been holding off reading this until the whole thing is posted, well, it's all posted. A fan novel set in the Pirates of the Caribbean fandom that will make you think of the great swashbuckling novels and movies of the 1940s--except with a gay love story, of course. An epic love story--it completely makes sense that Norrington and Sparrow are the loves of each other's lives. Second to the sea of course. (
schemingreader now must squee like a squeeing thing.)
Even though I was close to this during the whole project I'm still amazed and delighted to see it at its completion. It's just so wonderful that we get this kind of writing out of fandom.

Date: 2009-02-03 07:01 pm (UTC)It's true that I happened to have watched the 3rd POTC on Sunday evening, and it's true that since the moment I laid eyes on Captain Jack Sparrow I've considered him inexpressibly sexy. But Norrington never really made an impression on me, and I'm pretty slash-centric when it comes to fan fic, so I haven't bothered to read many POTC stories.
But your delight made me curious, so I decided to at least read a little of the first chapter to see what I thought of the characterization of Sparrow.
And now it's well over three hours later - the morning is almost over and I haven't accomplished a single thing! Of course, even in that time I couldn't read every detail and I skipped some bits, but still...
