Oy, terrible
Sep. 18th, 2006 11:50 amThis is my punishment for writing fan fiction when I am in the middle of job applications.
I decided to reward myself for completing two applications by doing just a little more writing on my Snupin Santa story. The story is now over 6,000 words. I could be:
--Cleaning: I have a horrifyingly messy apartment and my mother-in-law is coming for a visit
--Laundry: Job interview Wednesday!
--Preparing my service: I am leading the morning service on the second day of Rosh HaShanah. I haven't done so much as to hum the major tunes.
--Drinking herbal tea or napping: I have a bad cold.
--Noodging potential employers who haven't gotten back in touch with me about job interviews (though I find it more enjoyable to stick myself with a pin than to do that!)
But no. I was doing obsessive research for my fan fiction. I googled "wolf pelt." Did you know that people kill wolves and sell their fur? Yeah? I guess I sort of knew that. I wasn't expecting to see photos of dead wolves. Wolves are very nice pretty animals and it made me really sad to see those pictures. Do you know what else? Some people sell dog and cat fur. Two clicks and you can see horrible images.
I know, I know, I'm implicated as much as anyone else in the cruel exploitation of animals. I am not feeling smug about not eating meat right now, though. I'm feeling shitty that I am part of the human race.
As I got a phone call from someone in my Jewish community. She has food poisoning, could I come bring her some Gatorade and saltines? So I have to put on my cape and swoosh out of here.
Your reward for reading this? Two fan art recs from me! If you haven't seen the amazingly not-work-safe and gorgeously smutty Snarry art
Love Triangle by
tripperfunster--well go look! As soon as you can, I mean. I can't squee enough about this picture. The triangle idea is so clever. Also Snape's Snapely face in the kiss! and that cute tuchus!
Also, if you missed this adorable rated G pre-slashy-ish fanart I wonder which house he'll be put in from
oblomskaya, don't. Great characterizations of Lupin, James Potter, and Snape (in the order of greatness) and not to be missed. James' ears, heee!

"Werewolves are men who change into wolf form. But transformation is not unknown among women and children. As a werewolf you behave as a wolf and do what the body of a wolf does. Yet at the same time you retain your human power of reasoning to do what a man does. So if you wish you can combine killing sheep and cattle with breaking into houses, terrifying the occupants and stealing their beer. But you must watch out because if you come to harm as a werewolf you carry that injury back with you on returning to human form; if a sheep farmer blasts you in the leg with his shot-gun you will be lame on your return to humanity."
But JKR's world it's different. So....
