Voice; action available for New Bark Town
This is Agent Carolina, reporting in from New Bark Town.
[Carolina’s tone is just as militaristic as ever, as though she’s making a call straight from Chorus. She holds the pokégear steady despite the squirming, wiggling growlithe in her other arm. Of course, the growlithe can't be seen, but his little wiggly yips can certainly be heard.]
I understand that I— hey, calm down—
[Yeah, hold that thought. Carolina has to put the growlithe down before she’s going to be able to say anything else.
There's a sigh before she starts to talk again.]
...Sorry about that.
I understand this line is a public channel, so if any of my men are hearing this, please send me your coordinates. Or.
[Right. They can't do that.]
...Just let me know if you're here.
Assuming they aren't here, I’d like to put out a request. I’m in charge of a crew of soldiers who refer to themselves as the reds and blues [(though, the way she says that, it sounds more like she’s their babysitter)] and if I’ve turned up here, it’s just as likely they will, too.
If you hear from anyone going by the names Washington, Church, Tucker, Simmons, Grif, Sarge, or Caboose, please send word to me. They can be a bit of a handful, but I’d really appreciate it.
[That last bit is said with a hint of an affectionate smile in her voice.]
In any case, thank you in advance, and it’s… nice to meet you all. I’m sure we’re not all here under the best of circumstances… but…
[She sounds lost for a moment, as if searching for the next thing to say.]
Anyway. Thank you for your time, and if… anyone is experienced with the pokémon ‘growlithe’, I’d appreciate any pointers.
Agent Carolina, signing out.
[but before she can disconnect..]
Hey, what are you-- No, don't bite that! What are you doi--
[As for action, Carolina can be found just outside New Bark, glaring at the ledges.]

[Voice]
That is, he hears what she says, but none of it really registers. Maybe later he'll question why she's looking for a bunch of people he's never heard of (barring Washington. God, that poor kid. York never found out whether or not he was okay), but right now, he's caught entirely by that voice, frozen mid-motion on the road to Cherrygrove City. Not even the annoying background music gets through.
When he can finally speak again, the shock has knocked all the posturing out of his voice.]
...Carolina?
[Voice]
That voice. That
insufferableTexan accent. There's no mistake. But there's no holograms here, no way to--- no way--]
Agent... York...?
[Her voice is stilted, like she's forcing herself to ask.
Ghosts aren't real, dead people can't talk.]
[Voice]
[Just when he'd been starting to wonder if dying visions were supposed to last this long. Thanks, Carolina!]
Not that I can complain. This is a pretty nice deal as far as insane death hallucinations go. Not totally sure where the superpowered cockfighting comes in, though. Might be a metaphor.
[Voice]
Where are you.
[It's not a question; it's an order.
She needs to see him for herself.]

I don't know those people... but Growlithe is like a puppy. Just play with it and give it a lot of attention. You can train them to be like police dogs, too. That's what the Jenny's here do.
[And before he forgets.]
Oh yeah, Growlithe is a fire type. So don't be alarmed when it starts breathing fire.
[Voice because she's rude sorry roxas]
You're serious?
[She wants to call bullshit, but at this point... Well, she's read the trainer's handbook back to front, and she's not about to tell a whole population they're insane. Even if they are.]
Police dogs... You don't happen to know if there's a manual for that somewhere, do you?
[Voice that's okay, he's pretty chill]
[That gets him to think.]
You could probably ask on the network. I know there's a few people here who were soldiers and police officers before coming here. They might know something about that. I just train mine to battle. Well, did, the last time I was here.
[Voice she'll probably warm up to him fast tbh roxas is perfect]
[A LONG-SUFFERING SIGH.]
Training for battle... That's right. There's some kind of competitive league here, isn't there...?
Would you mind telling me more?

[That is indeed all he gathered from the message. But he just had to make sure he heard that right.]
[Voice]
[...At least, that's what he'd called himself. Carolina had never been interested in checking his personnel file to make sure, because... Caboose.]
You heard right.
[Voice]
T-That's...that's another word for... [He lowers his voice to a whisper, like what he's about to say might get him in trouble if anyone hears.] ...butt.
[Voice]
Did he really just.
There's a long, slow sigh.]
Well, it's good to know the reds and blues will fit right in if they show up here.

[There's some irritated sounding noise from the growlithe in question, and then a long pause.]
As for finding your men... the situation here can get tricky when it comes to people you know, but it sounds like you found that out already.
voice
[She tries to sound amused about it, at least.]
So you're training a growlithe as well? Do they make chew toys for these guys?
[Now she sounds actually a bit amused, though her tone of voice is , as always, a bit dry.]
voice
If no one has explained 'pokemon battling' yet, read your trainers manual.
[There's some very enthusiastic and vocal encouragement from his Growlithe.]
Mine seems to really enjoy it.
voice
[It's weird, honestly. When was the last time she held a print book? When was the last time she'd seen a print book??]
If that's what these guys are into, I'm all about it. We'll see if training for battle goes over well.

Is that so? I'll watch out for that one, then.
But... there aren't stores where you can buy toys for these guys?
[She's never had a dog before, but she's wanted one, and you're always supposed to get them chew toys. Probably so they don't eat your backpack.]
voice
Well, yeah. I'm not sure about the smaller towns, because I haven't been to Johto outside of New Bark Town. Goldenrod's department store should have a section for toys. Until then, though... you can burn off some of that energy by having him battle.

[He might've chuckled a bit before starting the feed, though. Just... what an unfortunate name. Ah well. More to the point--]
As for Growlithes, it sounds like you've already got a good start as far as pointers go, but has anyone talked about its evolution yet? I could probably throw in my two cents either way.

No one's mentioned it yet, no. I'd love to know what I'm looking forward to with this guy, if you've got any idea.

[Big enough to ride on, even, which definitely adds to their appeal. Riku prefers flying, but sometimes it's good to stick close to the ground.]
They're also about twice as fluffy, so expect to do a lot of brushing. Constantly. They can be pretty high maintenance.
