Oh *headdesk*
So, as it wasn't that long ago (even if we've slept since then), I'm sure we all remember the 9/12 rallies. And, many of you might remember seeing Melissa Harris Lacewell on The Rachel Maddow show, talking about how odd it was trying to take a time of unity and altruism and make it into a time of hate and selfishness. Well, apparently, this is the left invoking 9/11 to Sell ObamaCare.
This is, apparently, somehow worse than invoking 9/11 to stop healthcare reform. Or anything else that Obama wants to do.
Fair warning, if you go there and read the "article", the comments are enabled on the page. And they make me sick, because of the rampant stupidity.
I'm REALLY getting tired of people flinging about the words "communist" and "socialist", when what they really mean is "someone who doesn't agree with me, WHAAAAA!"
Communism: A type of government that is great on paper, but never works in practice. Supposed to a type of utopia where everyone shares and shares alike. Fails because of the human desire to be better than everyone else, so, as usual, the few end up hoarding the power, wealth, and resources from the many who eventually revolt.
Socialism: IS NOT A POLITICAL SYSTEM. It's an economic system. This is why it will not be implemented during Obama's tenure as President, barring something like, oh, Armageddon. It would require reworking the entire economic structure of the US. Such a thing would have to go through Congress at the very least, if not the Supreme Court as well, as we all know how quickly they move. For Socialism to be properly done in the US, it would take years of laying the ground work and convincing people that this is what they really want to do. It does, in a way, encompass Communism, as most Communist Countries actually declare themselves to be Socialist Countries, working their way towards the Ideal of Communism.
Socialism can include Nationalization of various social business, things that everyone relies upon like banks, or healthcare. It doesn't have to, but it can.
I just wish people would stop and think for a moment. If I can stop and point to at least two things that disprove your point that have nothing to do with emotions, it means you might very well be WRONG (I know, shocking, isn't it?). They say that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Most kinds of mental retardation center around the inability to learn, whether its learning academics, or learning how to interact with people and the outside world.
It has been said that even the best battle plan never survives the first contact with the enemy. This is because THINGS CHANGE. People, places, cultures. They're all changing, growing, EVOLVING. Change is. It's one of the true constants, and I (for one), am glad of it. How boring would it be if nothing changed?
That's why a true adult to me is a person who is not only able to admit their mistakes, but to make conscious effort to correct them, and to not make them again. To learn from what happens around them, and to change their opinions as new facts come to light. Otherwise, we're like those four blind men, trying to figure out just what the hell this elephant is, only able to feel our part of the whole and convinced that the others must be feeling some different animal.
