Setting Information: Gebo
The City:
Beneath the seas of Niflheim's ocean lies the city of Gebo. Originally founded by Nysgods who took mermaids, sea nymphs, and sirens for mates, the city is composed of five towers. One is an administrative building for Nysgod business. One is the recreation hall. One is the business center, where all work and manufacture takes place. The last two are barracks, one for men and one for women, connected by a sea tunnel. Access to the various buildings of the city comes in the form of water shuttles. They are efficient and on time, but only run about once every half hour, from the start of day to curfew. After all, the Nysgods themselves can travel by shadow.
The city itself is cool, average temperatures ranging from 60 to 65 degrees Fahrenheit. Deep under the sea, no real sunlight filters through. Industrial lights rise and fall, simulating daylight, but it's weak at best and UV-free. The Nysgods don't want to waste too much power on the lights, after all. There are more important uses of the power. Namely: Work.
The Administrative Tower:
The administrative tower is the seat of all Nysgod affairs in town. This is where the Carver's temple is located and where potential mates to citizens of Gebo are brought, prior to the ceremony which will convert them into Nysgods. As such, the building features a system of waterways and waterfalls, which allow sea creatures to travel from place to place.
The administrative tower features two other important facilities. The first is the repair shop, where all mechanical equipment undergoes repair. The second, more prominent is the nursery and childcare facility. Pre-adolescent Nysgod boys, deemed too young to work, are cared for and raised in the childcare facility provided by Gebo. There, these boys are educated and taught to use their powers. While they have frequent contact with their parents, they live in the tower, rather than as part of a family unit. Childcare workers are generally Nysgods from other cities and rumor has it that these men are Nysgods who, for some reason or another, never brought a mate over to Niflheim.
The Recreation Hall:
Although life is work in Gebo, the Nysgods recognize that even workers need downtime, if only to increase their efficiency. Therefore, one of the towers of Gebo is a recreation hall. This building features several exotic wildlife parks, a library (most of the books are fiction), a gym and training room with equipment, and a few quaint little shops, mostly run by Nysgods from other cities who are not city workers. The building also has a grocery store, stocked with a variety of items, ranging from exotic fruits and vegetables, to nutrition paste, to bottles of synthetic blood (True Blood, of course, being the most popular brand).
The recreation hall also has a cinema which shows movies, once a week. Here, you can see such fascinating documentaries as The History of Twine or How Rubber Bands Changed the Worlds.
The Business Center:
Gebo is the manufacturing capital of Niflheim. And what do the citizens of Gebo manufacture? Luxury goods. After all, the Nysgods here are either former sea creatures or the mates of former sea creatures. There's an innate attraction to anything shiny. Any number of trinkets and toys and entertainment goods are produced here. And the workforce rotates from job to job, in order to keep production up and workers' malaise down. Workers are assigned randomly and jobs shift randomly, sometimes with no warning.
The work schedule rotates as three days on, and one day off. For every day worked, ten credits will automatically be applied to a worker's bank. Every second day off, five credits will be subtracted from your account for room and board. Credits are all stored virtually, and a small chip that comes attached to your key ring will be used for all commercial interactions.
The Barracks:
Life is work. The citizens of Gebo don't want the workforce getting distracted by trivial matters like housing. To spare everyone the agony of figuring that all out, the candidates will discover that the twin towers at the heart of town are actually barracks. One is for the gentlemen and one is for the ladies. Of course, Niflheim are well aware that not all people or races are confined to one of these genders, so others will be randomly assigned.
Each building is about a hundred stories high. Both have the same layout. After all, a different layout might lead to further distraction. Things need to be fair. Each floor is a suite consisting of three bedrooms and a common room. Each room holds three occupants. The candidates have thoughtfully been provided with their own floors, separate from where the Nysgods live.
Rooms are equally divided up, a lofted bed, with a dresser, desk, and some seating beneath for each room mate. There are curtains that can be drawn between each area for a bit of privacy, but these curtains are, by no means, sound proof. There are two beds on one side of a small kitchen and bathroom and one bed on the other side. If further furnishings are required, they can be purchased in the Recreation Hall.
The bathrooms are small and efficient, with a shower stall that efficiently dispenses each room mate's daily allotment of shampoo, conditioner, and soap. This shower also acts as a dryer, and can even dispense a cream to remove body hair, if such a thing is desired. All three room mates must share the same closet. Fortunately, the closets have been thoughtfully stocked with the required uniform for all workers. One size fits all, even if one size does not flatter all:

1. A breather: This device was specially designed for mortals and all the candidates are required to wear it around their necks, at all times. In the event of a leak, putting this device into your mouth will allow you to breathe under water. It has a short lifespan, only twenty minutes or so, but that's more than enough should a rescue be required.
2. Messenger bag: This bag has been provided for all your transporting needs. It is waterproof, durable, and can be worn over the shoulder, freeing up your hands for work.
3. Jacket: All workers are required to wear the jacket while on duty. It's both waterproof and fireproof, suitable for any working environment.
4. Trousers: Pocketless and lightweight, these waterproof pants are sufficient for the bodily needs of all genders.
5. Gloves: Gloves are dispensed to all citizens. They are one part of the uniform that is not necessarily required. It depends on if you need them for work. If not, they can be easily stowed in your messenger bag.
6. Boots: These waterproof rainboots fit comfortably and snugly around your foot. They have especially good tread, for walking over wet floors. City law requires boots to be worn over trousers at all times.
And because choosing a room mate might be another distraction, you've already been assigned. Asking for a new assignment will just earn you a funny look from the Nysgod landlady as you're handed your key (along with a keyring, with one chip attached that access your spending account). No special requests. After all, it's only your room.
