Rules Dates
  • Hackathon begins: 10:30 AM, Day 1 (after kickoff)

  • Submission deadline: 10:00 AM, Day 2

  • Team pitches and judging: 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM, Day 2
    (Finalists announced by 11:30AM - 1:00 PM)

Eligibility
  • Open to all SJSU students.

  • Teams can have up to 4 members.

  • Participants must adhere to the SJHacks Code of Conduct (respectful behavior, zero tolerance for harassment).

Project and Submission Requirements

Each team must submit:

  1. Project repository link (source code)

  2. Selected track/theme (Clean up your city / Homelessness / Public Safety)

  3. Names of all teammates 

  4. Project description (what you built and why + instructions if applicable)

Bonus submissions (encouraged but not mandatory):

  • 1–2 min pitch video

  • Pitch slide deck

  • Live project link (if applicable)

All submissions must be made via Devpost by the deadline.

Prizes
  • Overall Best Project

  • Best Project in Public Safety (Top 3)

  • Best Project in Clean Up Your City (Top 3)

  • Best Project in Homelessness (Top 3)

  • Raffle prizes (T-shirts)

Judging Criteria and Winner Selection

Judges will evaluate projects based on:

  • Impact on Social Good (Alignment with track theme and real-world value)

  • Technical Innovation (Creativity and use of technology)

  • Execution (Functionality, UI/UX, and completeness)

  • Pitch Quality (Clarity and persuasiveness in presentation)

Finalists will be selected after an initial review; winners will be decided after live pitches at the finale.
