Soft Talk is the moniker of audiovisual artist Douglas Carr Jr. Calling from the fertile hills of Appalachia, the Virginia-born experimental glitch pop artist speaks in a voice both saccharine and psychedelic; vulnerable and expansive; uncomfortable yet undeniably catchy.
Soft Talk’s juicy, heavenly sound is often characterized by sweeping, wet synth lines, coarsely chopped samples and harshly effected vocal melodies. His transportive live show is a fever dream of whirring, crackling ambience punctuated by a glitchy mirage of psychedelic eye-and-ear candy, which is controlled in real time by the artist throughout the show.
A self-made artist with giant ambitions, Soft Talk is working tirelessly to make his mark on the new decade with new releases on the horizon and plans to tour extensively throughout the east coast in 2020. He is poised to share his strange and remarkable creative vision with anyone who will sit still for it.
