I found this this morning, and I think it just about sums me up:
I feel the need to warn folks in here about one of my flaws: I am boundlessly curious about certain topics. I am also one of those really weird people who feels comfortable telling a complete stranger almost anything about me, no matter how personal or private a detail might seem. This combination means that I occasionally have trouble figuring out what areas are off-limits for other people -- something I struggle with dramatically more online, where I can't see your face to gauge your comfort-level. If you happen to start talking about one of the subjects which provoke this type of fascinated reaction in me (your kink! your bilingualism! your faith! your fiction! your OCD!), there's a chance that I will start to poke you with the kinds of nosy personal questions that will make you feel like a really shiny and interesting insect. This is not because I am trying to invade your privacy or make you uncomfortable; I have boundary issues and I'm working on it. But if my fascination with you ever crosses a line, or if I ever start talking about something in public which you'd rather discuss in a more private setting, please let me know it.
Also, FYI to anyone who isn't sure: I used to be soukup on Livejournal. Over time it became obvious that LJ didn't take my privacy as seriously as its policies had promised it would, so I wiped my journal and left it as a placeholder to direct people here instead.
I'm not even in *here* much anymore, come to that, but I pop back from time to time to catch up with a few special folks. Feel free to say hi all the same!
