Last night I started playing Observation: a science fiction/ space horror game in which you play as the AI of a stricken space station. It's the classic space survival scenario with a damaged and apparently unreliable AI, only in this case you aren't playing as the human survivor. The feeling of being dropped into an unfamiliar facility in the midst of crisis reminded me a lot of SOMA, where you explore an abandoned and badly damaged facility, or the lived-in and battered quarters of Alien: Isolation.

Gameplay is similar to Tartarus, with a mix of exploration and computer-based puzzle-solving, albeit based on controller input rather than a command-line interface. As with Lightstep Chronicles, you're restricted to what you can access via the ship's cameras, remotes, and electronic systems. One thing I'm less keen on is the use of time-based puzzles. Still, I don't think Devolver Digital has ever let me down, so I'm hoping to see this one through to the end.

Steam also has a backlog-cleaning event, which ... oh dear.

[ETA: It's really good!]

I've been filling a Procreate canvas with Hyperion (Blake, Helios station, and Yvette.) As you make your canvas bigger in Procreate, the limit on layers gets lower, like a deadly dance :p

I wish all my Blake's 7 friends could play Tales from the Borderlands, 'cause it's such a good ensemble story with great AI characters (albeit no Blake and not as much Yvette as you would think, so this picture is very misleading XD.) Unfortunately it's not on sale due to the demise (and semi-rebirth) of Telltale Games, and resultant licensing nightmare. There are some good playthroughs online though, if you like that.

Started playing Fallout 76 due to the free weekend on Steam.

Within seconds of leaving the vault, I have stabbed a robot, and now deserve everything that happens to me for the forseeable future.

The Bunker

I've been absent due to *gestures at the absolute state of the world* but trying to make updates. Yesterday I decided to go back to Borderlands 2 to make very quick thumbnail sketches of the Bunker. I don't think any other game in the series tells a story with its locations quite as well as BL2. They're not just locations that look interesting, but locations that tell you something about the people who built or inhabit them. That's good scifi storytelling! Maybe one day I'll do a round-up post.
