These analyses are based on monthly indices of industrial production (IIPs), compiled from national data and UNIDO’s latest estimates. The IIP reflects short-term trends in real industrial output, unaffected by price fluctuations. The dataset covers around 80 countries, representing nearly 95 per cent of global manufacturing value added (MVA), and is released as both original and seasonally adjusted index numbers.

The author proposes a two-step method: first, economies are grouped using shape‑based clustering to create more comparable clusters; second, cluster‑specific forecasting models using XGBoost and LSTM are trained.
