AU SCENARIO: never too many logs involving babies.
[Winter had arrived and had arrived with a vengeance that season but that didn't stop business from being business and work being work. Dick Grayson was still purely who he always had been in personality despite having been through the trails and tribulations of battling for litteral and proverbial right to all things Wayne. Still, while that had been an interesting if not difficult period in his life that had cleared up and now all seemed to be in place and he was back in the black and blue cowl he felt most comfortable in. Back in his own home, floating between his stomping grounds but above all else more regularly with his family. While his family was massive, broad and seemingly never-ending the reference was to his immediate family as Dick Grayson, busy and difficult to hold down in one spot for too long, had a wife and a growing family of his own. It didn't stop him from assuring that he was always obnoxiously loving and attentive to his extended family but now he had a regular household to come home to and bestow his sometimes unwanted affection upon.
Needless to say it had been hard working days, nights and still making it home to a wailing infant wanting to be fed and the words; it's your night greeting him when he walked through the door.
Emily was nearly two years old now though and even more interesting than she had been when she was born. One of the brightest stars in his life who he was horribly protective of despite the fact he liked to throw her around like his father did to him, he tried to spend as much time with her as possible and when he could bring her places he would always do his best to incorporate her in his life. Even now with his wife, Barbara Gordon-Grayson, expecting he tried not to get too excited and keep a schedule and helping Barbara as much as he could before he was shoved away for being too attentive.
Winter was winter though and while the holidays where on the way as the snow fell that evening, Dick found himself with a night off as he reached down and tucked the one and half year old under his arm after grabbing a few bags of groceries out of the car, shutting the car door with his foot as the tiny girl giggled fiercely.] Don't be too happy we're home, Em's. You'll give it away that you don't like to go shopping and then mommy will take you all the time.
[His voice replied, laughing along with her before navigating and using his elbow to open the front door and walk inside.] Hello?

And then you'll be there. All set? Okay, call if anything happens. Right. Bye. [She presses the button on her earpiece to end the call just as she hears Dick's voice from upstairs. She gets up from her desk chair, heading up the stairs to meet him in the entry way]
Welcome back. Should I take the kid or some bags?

Would you prefere giggle-fest, '12 or groceries for dinner, return of the mashed peas?
no subject
I think I'll settle for the giggling. How did it go? You got everything on the list?
no subject
It went well, Em's talked to everyone and screamed at another little boy that she saw on isle five. Everything on the list is procured and ready asides leeks, there were no leeks sadly.

Oh well I'm sure the other people in the store appreciated that. Always nice to hear from a toddler. [Emily can get loud when she really wants to] That's fine. I can always make a trip to the market when I need them. It's not a big deal. You got the children's tylenol though, didn't you?

[Dick exhaled and gave her a smile.] How are you feeling?
no subject
[Shrug] I'm alright. Tired but that's just going to get worse. And at least today was the first time in three months that I haven't felt like vomiting.

[Teasing, he stopped for a moment and looked at her.] Did you want to go lay down at all? I'll watch munchkin there if you need some rest.
no subject
The problem with that, dear, is that we don't keep whiskey in the house. And I'm fine. I can handle it. I'll lay down when Em goes to bed.

Is the doctor’s appointment next Wednesday for the check-up then? Maybe the small one will actually turn around so we can find out if tiny is a boy or girl. It’s strange calling it and it, and until then you’re going to have to deal with me making it nick-names for them until we find out.
[Though in reality even we they know the gender the nicknames don’t stop.]
I’m going with bean for now.

Like you're really going to stop giving it nicknames once we find out. Emily was something different every week from the time we found out I was pregnant until she was born.

Come on, they weren't so bad. Little snail was my favorite--personally.

We'll see if she feels the same way when she's older.

See, she knows. It's a great name. Just like the little bean because they are just that, a little bean. A human being.

Don't grow up to be like daddy, sweetie.
