My surname is Stone and my chosen-name is Bear and my pronouns are they and them and there is a slight flaw in my character. That flaw is, if you mess with my people, you will get to meet Mama Bear, and everyone should know what happens when you mess with bear cubs when Mama is around. It's not pretty.
I am a journey-level Bard, specifically a Storyteller, and a part of the filk community(1). My natural habitat is the greasy underbelly of the Internet; it's both where I play and where I trade my time for the credits that satisfy crapitalism's voracious maw. As you may surmise from that comment, I'm an activist out of necessity.
This is not my primary playground; these days I am mostly on Mastodon
I grew up in the American South; I outgrew most of that legacy. I still like the food (massive props to both Turtle Island's indigenous population and the Africans white men forcibly imported thereunto for most of the food I like) and some of the music. The politics and the heat are invited to explore their respective solipsexualities.
I grew up cishet WASP AMAB. I can still pass for that, if I really have to. It was never us. We are Celt, not Saxon(2), not straight, not cis, and the P doesn't stand for Protestant. I didn't so much outgrow all those things as got the assumptions knocked out of me by a double armful of squeeing enby that tacklepounced me at high velocity and somehow didn't send us both flying...
Somewhere between those two things, I discovered motorcycles. Sadly, the pandemic put paid to my motorcycle habit, at least west of the pond... but it was a good ten years, and I made some good friends out of that. I may yet throw a leg over again, now that I'm dexterpondial. (As of this revision mijn huis is en Nederland.)
Shared pain is lessened; shared joy, increased. Thus do we swing entropy the finger.
(1) filk is folk (and rock, blues, chamber, rap, and other) music of science fiction fandom, *and* the community that makes and supports this music. (Storytelling, poetry, and ASL sign-singing also count.)
(2) it wasn't until after WWII that Celts, particularly Irish Catholics, were counted as white... and frankly, we-singular-and-plual don't think like they do. I mean, yes, some ass-umptions still trip us up, but most of the time when I see some white dude showing his arse, I just want to *kick it.*
