Iroko Restoration Project - Cameroon

Image
Congo Basin, Cameroon

The Iroko Restoration Project (“Iroko”) is a reforestation project in East Cameroon that will restore 14,000 hectares of degraded forest in the Congo Basin rainforest – the “Green Lungs” of Africa.

This land has been degraded for decades, caused by logging and slash-and-burn agriculture. Named after the culturally significant Iroko tree (Milicia excelsa), which in West African folklore brings misfortune if cut down, the project reflects our mission to protect and regenerate these landscapes for the long-term.

In addition to issuing approximately 5 million tCO2e Verified Carbon Units (VCUs), the project will generate income opportunities and revenue sharing back to the local Ndélélé and Bétaré-Oya communities.

This project is based on Verra’s VM0047 Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation (ARR) methodology, with Under Validation (UV) registration under Verra targeted for Q4 2025.

Reviving Ancestral Domain Forests - Philippines

Image
Bukidnon, Philippines

The Bukidnon-Tagoloanon Tribe aims to restore the ancestral lands of Indigenous communities in Bukidnon, Mindanao, Philippines. The landscape has been deforested since the 1970s and now consists of rolling grass-covered hills. The project will reforest the area with 30 native species as part of a strategy to combat the spread of invasive tree species, enhance ecosystem resilience and biodiversity, and support the natural regeneration of the landscape.

Co-benefits include creating job opportunities, enhancing food security through agroforestry initiatives, reducing wildfire risks, and mitigating soil erosion.

Keta Lagoon Blue Carbon Project - Ghana

Image
Keta Lagoon, Ghana

Keta Lagoon Blue Carbon Project, or Keta Blue, is restoring degraded coastal wetlands in a biodiversity hotspot protected under the global Ramsar Wetlands Treaty. Planting four native mangroves species, this project aims to enhance local biodiversity and mangrove ecosystem health, improving the livelihoods of communities reliant on the lagoon and its surrounding wetlands.

Co-benefits include the revitalization of community fisheries and beekeeping (apiculture) offering food security and new income sources, improved water quality and flood control, and local job creation for planting, nursery work, monitoring, and eco-tourism.

Image
Antioquia, Colombia

Sembrando Futuro 2.0 aims to restore Andean forests near three Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs) in the Antioquia region. These rehabilitated ecosystems will restore crucial wildlife habitats, connect migration routes, and protect biodiversity.

Co-benefits include creating sustainable jobs for the community, agroforestry programs, a center for research and education, and a large-scale nursery for native species.
