Our History
In 1999, Clayco established an in-house architectural firm to enhance services for its expanding client network. This entity was the forerunner to what is now LJC Design & Engineering.
With a national presence, LJC has created a model for architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, urban planning, sustainability, and engineering that uniquely combines the collective experiences of our talented staff. We are thinkers who recognize that every design and solution we create must be authentic, effective, strategic, pragmatic, and thoughtful. We are Inspired by Design.
We challenge conventional thinking. We don’t accept the status quo. Instead, we seek to understand the core needs of each assignment. We constantly ask ourselves and our clients, “Why not?” and “What if?” We love the problem, not our solution, because, in doing so, we ensure that we are always seeking the very best for our clients. In the design-build project delivery model, the owner only has to manage a single contract with a single point of responsibility. By having the designer and contractor work together from the beginning, the design-build model provides a unified team to address changes for better problem-solving. Single-source contracting allows for innovation and collaboration between the designer and contractor to keep projects on schedule and on budget.
