  • September 3, 10:00 CEST: Kick-off webinar and team formation
  • September 8-28: Remote hackathon development phase
  • September 29: Onsite sprint at BiDS'25 and project submissions
  • September 30: Presentations, judging, and awards ceremony

Eligibility

  • Open to individuals or small teams (1–3 persons) from eligible countries
  • Participants must have a strong background in deep learning and data science
  • Familiarity with Python and libraries such as PyTorch and NumPy is required
  • Participants must comply with Horizon Europe eligibility and financial rules (AMGA Article 6)
  • Winners may be asked to provide proof of eligibility (e.g., age, affiliation, country of residence)
  • Participants agree to the BiDS code of conduct
  • Participants agree to the Hackathon terms and conditions, including IPR and GDPR provisions
  • All participants must register separately for the BiDS25 conference (registration free of charge)
  • Costs related to BiDS25 attendance (e.g. travel, accommodation) are not covered by the organisers and must be borne by participants themselves
  • Only projects submitted by participants physically attending the Hackathon at the BiDS’25 Satellite Events in Riga will be evaluated and considered for prizes. Remote submissions are not eligible

Project and Submission Requirements

Participants must submit:

  • Project description outlining the problem addressed, approach taken, and relevance to the selected track (follow the Devpost project submission template)
  • GitHub repository with source code used to develop the solution and documentation explaining how to run the code, key methods used, and any dependencies or requirements
  • A ppt presentation and a short video showcasing the solution, its functionality, innovation, and impact potential

Submissions must address one of the three tracks and follow the guidance provided during the hackathon. All submissions must be original and developed during the event.

Prizes

Judging Criteria and Winner Selection

A panel of expert judges will evaluate submissions using the following criteria (scored 1–5):

  1. Effectiveness – Does the solution address the problem effectively?

  2. Efficiency – Is the solution technically sound and streamlined?

  3. Novelty – Is the approach original or creative?

  4. Clarity – Is the solution clearly explained and easy to understand?

  5. Impact Potential – Could the solution make a real-world difference if developed further?

Winners will be selected based on the total score across all five criteria.
