On Saturday my boys dragged me out to the church across the road from our house, where they were having a tailgate sale. I said, "Okay, we'll go, but we're not spending any money." Ha!
One of the first things my eyes beheld was this log cabin dollhouse. It's in rough shape, but that only added to the appeal, IMO, because making something beautiful out of something not so beautiful is a joyful process for me. The sticker on it read $15.00. I got it for $8.00, and had to go back across the road to get my boys' wagon just to haul this thing home. It's really heavy.
I can't tell if it's from a kit or homemade, though I'm leaning toward homemade. If anyone has any thoughts on how to tell, please let me know. Also, any suggestions for fixing it up are more than welcome. Pics under the cut.
The front, I think. It's 29 inches across.

An overview of the inside. I figure it's two bedrooms flanking a bathroom and a large living/kitchen space.

Side view with a real stone chimney. Seriously, the top portion of that side of the cabin comes off and it is freakin' heavy. Oh, and the width of this side is 35 inches.

A couple glimpses of the stone fireplace inside. Wish I could get a better shot.

The back, I guess. It's not much different from the front, but the porch area is not as wide.

And the "roof."

Date: 2011-05-17 03:30 am (UTC)The boys had very little interest in it actually. Though J2 sweetly paid for it (J1 offered, but he didn't have as much money as J2), because I had already spent what little I had on hot dogs and cookies for them. I have since paid him back. :-p

Date: 2011-05-17 03:32 am (UTC)I have a log cabin kit, which I will assemble someday, and some furniture. Mostly, I just love log cabins, at least in the abstract. So many directions you could go!
