I know, there might be not many TW/DW fans in here, but I would like to introduce my action figure theatre to you, and maybe you have been to other conventions and can enjoy it nonetheless.
So, we set up a Torchwood/Doctor Who convention with everything that belongs there - panels, costume contest, photo session, autograph session and my favourite, the Dealers room with lots of little merchandise.
Doctor Who-Torchwood-convention Part 1/4
Guest panels and costume contest!
Doctor Who-Torchwood-convention Part 2/4
Dealer's room with lots of merchandise!
Doctor Who-Torchwood-convention Part 3/4
Photo session with John Barrowman and David Tennant
Doctor Who-Torchwood-convention Part 4/4
Autograph session with John Barrowman and David Tennant
Hope you enjoy my little set-up!

Date: 2011-10-24 11:27 am (UTC)If you are interested, there are lots more action figure stories on my own journal (my fandoms beeing "Doctor Who", "Torchwood" and "Stargate"), but I'll try to post only the ones in here which also might be of interest for people who don't know anything about the fandom. I figured everyone knows a convention!

Date: 2011-10-24 02:40 pm (UTC)I'm a fan of Eleven and at some point also managed to watch some Five, but I don't think I need extensive knowledge of any of the shows to enjoy the scenes you create.

Date: 2011-10-24 03:09 pm (UTC)There are some action figure picture stories where we re-created TV episodes, so one might not get all the fun if not knowing that particular episode, but I always try to explain it well. I most like the "ordinary people" stories though - the figures celebrating Christmas or having fun in the snow. With the upcoming Winter, I might post a few of those in here!
I have yet to see any classic Who if I find the time. I definitely have grown to like Matt Smith as well, and Christopher Eccleston was my first Doctor, so I will always like him, but during the years, even though it took a while, I have become a David Tennant fan, and seen lots of other TV and movie work with him, where he is always different and a really good actor. My icon is from the stage door of "Much ado about nothing" in London back in June (have you heard that the Fifth Doctor is - or rather will be once they get married - his FIL? LOL)
Aside from that, I am a HUGE John Barrowman (Captain Jack Harkness) fan - with all his multitalented entertainer sparkly showbiz side. In three weeks I will fly to Cardiff for his concert. Can't wait.
Sorry for talking your ear off... (I'm from Dresden, btw., former Eastern Germany)

I had no idea they changed the orthography which goes to show how out of practice I am--I think the easiest thing for me to do is to pretend I don't have the ß and just go ss all the way.
Definitely you need to post links to some of the other scenes you've created; I really am amazed by the level of detail in your work, it's so carefully thought out and beautifully done.
I saw your icon, somehow I guessed you're a Tennant fan :)
I didn't know that Davies was going to be his FIL, I love that!
I've never seen Dresden though I'd love to. We lived in Berlin and München (moved to US when I was 8)

Yes, David met Peter Davison's daughter at the set of "Doctor Who" where she played in an episode. Back in March they got a little baby-daughter, who now has a father, a mother and a grandfather who worked in Who. We expect her to play a role as well when she is old enough ;)
Oh, that's cool! I hope you have only good memories of your time in Germany. Here is at least a picture of the famous Dresden skyline for you, including the river Elbe and a steamer:

Can't wait for the HUB so I can add a "me and John Barrowman" icon which is suitable for many things also.
