Council on Active Transportation

The Council on Active Transportation addresses issues related to using human-powered means of travel, which includes walking and bicycling, with or without the use of mobility aids; and may also include using other human-scaled or micromobility devices that may be electric-powered or electric-assisted, such as e-bikes and e-scooters. The Council raises cross-disciplinary, multimodal, emerging and/or priority issues to the Strategic Management Committee and/or the Board of Directors.  The Council also provides direction and assignments to the relevant committees, and review and approve applicable technical documents on behalf of the Association. The Council promotes and encourages technology and knowledge transfer by Member Departments, and makes recommendations regarding needed research. The Council develops active transportation realted policies for review by the Transportation Policy Forum and the Board of Directors, reviews and provides input on proposed policies of national concern, and identifies key policy areas for review and discussion by the Transportation Policy Forum. The Council provides a forum to collaborate with other councils and committees, as well as external stakeholders.
