argh, and a request
Oct. 29th, 2012 05:14 pmToday has been massively frustrating, culminating in me spending almost an hour in online chat with an AT&T representative who didn't know squat and was very unhelpful and then went on to say that the solution was me contacting their advanced support team, which is a fee-based service. Then, when I was unhappy about that, I actually made some suggestions (and stopped them from fucking up something when they were remotely hooked up to me) that at least helped a little, although I'm still unhappy.
( Cut for details about my email woes, with specifics. )
Anyway, I'd appreciate some comments just so I can see if I actually receive them or not, and how long they take to download. Feel free to weigh in on your fabulous knowledge about using Mail (version 4.6) with AT&T Uverse if you know something helpful, which would be, you know, awesome.
Also, today sucked. Grrr. Argh.
But Joss Whedon's thing about what will happen if Romney wins is AWESOME. It's here, if you haven't seen it already.
ETA: Upon googling, I found that I am far from the only one with this problem. Apparently AT&T DOES NOT SUPPORT anything but webmail if your account was started after June 2011 or some such idiotic thing. YOU'D THINK THEIR SUPPORT TECHS WOULD KNOW THIS. The solution recommended was to set up a gmail account (which plays quite nicely with Mail on the Mac) and have your Uverse stuff forwarded to that account. WHICH IS STUPID BUT I DID IT AND IT APPEARS TO BE WORKING.
Although I lost all the emails I had on shellumbo at the att.net when I deleted the account from Mail (otherwise I was going to have to deal with it hanging up on itself all the fucking time).
I think the new system is working, but I'd love a few more comments--I didn't get any of the three that are currently on this post, although I got a test email I sent from my other gmail account (the professional one).
Also, another new email address, should you choose to use it: shellumbo at the gmail place.
