may they rest in peace.
due to the nature of acheron as an emanator, she tends to be odd and unusual by most standards to the point of causing general weariness. she is not above using her abilities as needed, but she tends to prefer to do things without them too heavily as a means of blending in with others. be they path striders or normal people.
it also does not help that the aeon that blessed her, ix, does not take emanator's usually by it's own choice. nobody knows just how she obtained the gaze of a being that thinks everything is meaningless, acheron may not ever talk about the specifics as remembering reopens wounds burrowed deep in her mind if she did draw her sword enough to draw out the memories.
now if someone were to probe into her head deep enough....
all that will be seen is nothing more than the endless black as waters threaten to drag down those around them. and perhaps, if one can make it further, they would see her walking and guiding both dead and living souls along the river. as she's always done no matter her inability to remember most things now, no matter this pain it may bring. a black hole, unending and dangerous; so full of tragedy.
what once was a former oni, she is now this being which one day hopes to slay the being that made her into what she is.
as it is known, ix causes those who look into it to feel apathetic to the point of questioning their existence and lose what makes them into themselves. acheron's unique circumstances allows her to retain who she is, but her head is a bigger mess from the events around her life.
what one can remember for a fair bit of time, acheron can forget far too quickly. if there's no emotions tied to it, that is. unlike what would be expected, acheron uses emotions as a marker for her head to retain information. she uses expressions, feelings that have others has or things that she might feel, just to retain everything and not let go. however, this all depends on how strong the emotions were. if not enough then she will surely not remember.
if they are, then her body will carry it for her until the memories return.

on the river bank.
from what has been hinted, acheron has suffered countless tragedies. all of which she no longer remembers strongly, the biggest of them being the loss of her home world, izumo. as of right now there is no other details on it aside from acheron seemingly once having horns. horns which she lost after ix's gaze fell upon her.
since she is an oni by birth, her horns have since disappeared on the day she became an emanator after forging the blade "naught". unless someone manages to see them by entering her head. instead of allowing it however, acheron will likely not want the person to stay inside her memories from concern about their well-being. were she to be caught before she lost them somehow however, in a timeline that should not exist, one thing to note is that they're sensitive to touch. pulling them will hurt but if you were to rub them the right way....let's just say acheron might not be pleased with the result. especially if you are not someone she'd trust enough to remotely touch her.

show me what you are, i am desperate to know
the people of izumo fought against something called the magakami in hopes of saving their world from ending due to the sheer number of them. acheron unfortunately, is the sole survivor of the tragic events circling izumo and takamagahara; izumo on that day she forged her the last blade was destroyed in one cleave with takamagahara. the events behind it from her despair lead into her becoming not just a self-annihilator, but an emanator. an emanator which can resist this call to death given to her originally by ix as it's "reward" no matter it not doing such a thing itself. self-annihilators die meaningless ends as an additional note, becoming an emanator for ix in particular is difficult and yet, acheron herself survived it to the point of joining the rare few who did.
she fell to despair, she fell to nihilism, but her world vastly differs and has changed into being something different. people may see colors, but gradually her world has lost it's own color. she exists, her suffering and her life holds tragedy, but she exists and leads those who are despairing themselves from this endless black to their own color filled world again along the river. to a merciful end. acheron seems to be considered by all an anomaly. an emanator that shouldn't exist, a monster that has no place in this world yet she exists. she lives and she persists. no matter it. as surprising as it is, she's far more gentle than she lets on even if her demeanor might cause some manner of concerns about her.
or perhaps, it's easier to say she detests truthfully the violence she may bring about by drawing her blade. she despises it as she remembers, all of it. including the nightmares she has being another detail of the corpses she slew so very long ago, even if she can't remember their faces.
spoiler warning 004;
you need the melody, i need the silence
from my current assumption, i believe it's also possible that acheron mentally tires herself out from drawing her blade to remember. the memories inside of it and herself tend to be quite taxing. remembering itself even is a task knowing just what she's been through as a whole.
because of it, she also refrains from necessity at making herself remember most of the time. there is the possibility her headspace would need time to stitch itself back together by her resting if she must do such a thing, whether it be to explain herself or to end a fight. she is used to not remembering, after all, doing that only would cause the sharp pangs of everything to stab back into her brain, her very being for a time.
