Right, let's have a more fannish update

because goodness knows I've been reading and watching a lot recently!

Continue to be unengaged by Game of Thrones - I'm sorry, I know so many people feel passionately about it, but I wasn't hooked by the books and I'm not hooked by the TV series, and there have been a fair few others for me to turn my attention to. I absolutely loved Vikings, and Elementary, and I'm going to miss Bomb Girls like crazy.

The one that has me most intrigued at the moment, and the one I didn't expect to grab me, is Defiance. From the description, it's not my kind of thing at all. I'm rarely interested in the hard sci fi sort of thing, far more at home with fantasy, but Defiance has enough focus on the characters and away from the technology to make me very happy indeed. That and a whole range of awesome lady characters, sex positivity and acceptance of non-traditional relationships, and I'm hooked. The cast doesn't hurt, of course - Jaime Murray, Tony Curran, Julie Benz and Gale Harold give me plenty of pretty to appreciate - but it's the relationships and the world they're creating that has me intrigued and happy to watch every week.

I'm sad to hear of the impending demise of Warehouse 13. Glad they've got enough notice to wrap it up as they want, but damn, I'll miss it. Claudia Donovan may be one of my favourite characters in anything ever.

I'm still having thinky and potentially ficcish thoughts about The Hour. So very sad that wasn't recommissioned for a third series.

<3 Elementary and Bomb Girls. ^_^

I really wanted to like Vikings, but I found Vikings impossible to watch... too slow, too boring. I needed more pace to keep my attention. (I didn't even make it through Episode 1...)

I'm with you on GoT - I'm engaged on a couple of story lines but the rest is so much bleh to struggle through and that's not a useful balance, really.

Defiance is BRILLIANT and I really need to catch up. LOVE IT :) and the closing montage music has been pretty fabulous, too. SUCH A GOOD NEW FIND :D \o/ (why not more fannishiness around it? It's spectacular and is DESERVES MORE, damnit).
