Music Again

It's Bandcamp Friday! Which is a day that musicians who sell via Bandcamp get the share of sales that would usually go to Bandcamp. I listen to a lot less music than I used to - which I suspect is because Windows Media Player has turned into something a lot less usable and Amazon music player doesn't let me play mp3s that I haven't bought from Amazon - but I took the chance to grab a couple of Amazing Devil albums that I don't own yet, and to re-download the latest version of Winamp.

I have VLC for video playback but for some reason my brain won't recognise it as a music player. IDK why but back to Winamp it is. Now, to choose a skin...

Winamp's Windows download no longer works! So it's a new music player for me, hopefully one my brain will recognise as a music player. It's interesting because even though I was listening to downloaded music using that, I was still partly worried that an algorithm might redirect me to "if you listened to that you should listen to this" or put in adverts or fail due to connectivity issues.

Which I think is a good sign that I need to get back to listening to the music that I own in a way that doesn't rely on streaming!

Oh, no! However, maybe for the best? I've heard more and more about streaming services pushing adverts & algorithms. Not to mention some not allowing you to play music you've purchased elsewhere. Such a mess! I wonder if there are any open source apps you can try? Whatever you decide, I hope you find something that works for you!
