Happy Yuletide! I love this time of year where we can give some love to the smaller fandoms and share that love through fic. I love everything that I've requested and I'm going to be so happy to read whatever you write, whatever we matched on, as long as you don't hit any of my DNWs. All of the prompt ideas are just ideas, and if you want to go in a different direction with these fandoms and characters I'd love to see where they take you.

General likes in fic

I've mostly requested canons where I really love the setting as well as the characters, so if you'd like to develop the setting I'd love to read it. I love historical and setting details thrown in, and I love focus on characters. I love found family. I love people finding a place where they can be accepted, respected and loved for everything that they are. I love open communication, trust deep enough to allow people to be vulnerable and have their trust validated. I love people discovering things about themselves and each other. I love people trusting each other enough to be goofy and silly with each other. I love angst and fear and brittle defensiveness that can get resolved into safety and the beginnings of trust extended and affirmed.

While I do like a bit of smut and a touch of kink, I'm honestly just as happy reading less explicit fic, so please don't feel like you need to write smut if you're not comfortable doing so. If you do want to write something explicit, I really like explicit consent. It doesn't have to be drawn out, it doesn't even need a lot of focus, but a mention goes a long way. If kink is involved, the same goes for negotiation - I want to know that everyone involved knows what they're getting involve in and that they actively want it. And that everyone gets looked after afterwards!

If you'd like to write something involving kink, please exclude age play, pet play, watersports, scat, vomit and vore. Pre-negotiated consensual non-consent or dubious consent is fine, but please include the negotiations for that to make it clear that consent was given in advance and that the lack of consent is only in play.

Some kinks I like to read: dominance and submission, bondage, honour bondage, rope bondage (including shibari), suspension, spanking, flogging, orgasm control, hair pulling.

What I love about the fandom: oh man, these awesome nerds. I love their kindness and their determination to keep doing better. I love their constant work to include as many variants of people as possible in their storytelling. I love their creativity and their drive. I love how much they love each other, trust each other, and support each other. I love the creative risks they're willing to take because of that trust. I love Matt's endlessly inventive brain and the way he shows his love for his players through the world he's created. I love Taliesin leaning into weirdness and how much he relishes embracing life beyond the mainstream. I love Ivan's care in crafting games that push for more intensity and how hard he works to create a safe space for his players where everyone's agreed boundaries but still trust him enough to push those boundaries.

What I'd love to see in fic: I embrace the "everyone is polyam and bi" headcanon when it comes to CR RPF fic, but I'm genuinely going to be just as happy with gen fic as with shippy or E rated fic. Domestic movie night/afternoon at Matt & Marisha's place with Omar bothering everyone in turn. Sleepy post-game cuddles after a hard studio session. Enthusiastic sex in any combination of people. Formal kink scenes that mirror the trust we've seen in games. Show me their comfort with each other and how much they care. Show me how their friendship/relationship might have shifted with Matt moving from the DM chair to join the players and with Ivan leaving Darrington Press to focus on Hunters Entertainment.

What I love about the fandom: the acknowledgment that perfection is impossible, practicality and kindness hold so much value. People are complicated and work to find solutions that compromise in ways that benefit everyone. People are damaged in the eyes of society and themselves and still have value and worth. Stubborn insistence on acceptance. (Except for the priests of the Hanged Mother.)

What I'd love to see in fic: I'd love to know what happens next, or what we didn't see along the road. How does Slate and Caliban's relationship go after the end of The Wonder Engine? Where does Caliban decide to disappear to? How much do they keep a relationship with the gnoles? Does Grimehug travel with them or stay in Anuket City? Were there card or dice games at night on the road? What happens when a gnole plays Never Have I Ever with humans who can't smell? Please feel free to include any other characters from the tagset if you'd like to do so and it makes sense for the story you'd like to tell!

What I love about the fandom: the blend of acting, improvising, shared storytelling with the threat and uncertainty of the unbranded stacked block tower - which is incapable of love. The continuous sense of dread introduced by the mechanic of the tower, the way every small victory was hard won, the fact that every single one of the friends in the group responded to the trauma of the first encounter in different ways that are revealed through the trials of the second.

What I'd love to see in fic: I'd love to see something of the in between year for Raina - the time she spent at art school, her stubbornness and how hard she tried, how much that first trip up Black Mountain haunted her, why she didn't reach out to any of the others, whether she wanted to, why she came back for the second trip. The aftermath of the second trip would also be amazing - what did Raina learn about herself on that second trip, does she isolate herself again, how does she deal with returning without Tanner, has the Mountain truly let her go or will it draw her and the others back another time?

Candela Obscura (Critical Role Web Series)

What I love about the fandom: the setting! the not secret/secret society! the dedication and curiosity that drives the members of Candela Obscura past the point of reasonable caution. The balance that each of them has to try to make between their public life and their hidden work. The half-revealed mythology of the world that was and the world that still wants to be. The hastily forged connections of each circle and the trauma that binds them or is suppressed when a new circle is formed.

What I'd love to see in fic: the before or after. What brings both of them to the circle, did they know each other before, what do they make of each other before and after the island? After - Leo didn't expect to survive, but he returns. How does he deal with that? Does he move on, does he join a new circle, does he retire, does he become a lighthousekeeper? Is Edgar truly gone or was he claimed by something that yearns to return? Can his spirit reach up and through the tattered veil?

What I love about the fandom: More gleeful anachronism! So much colour! Theatre and performance and politics and queerness and nothing and no one being as simple and straightforward as they first appear. Competent, stubborn, fearless women. Kit Marlowe, eyeliner-wearing fey queer goth punk nihilist spy and playwright of my heart, a character who might as well have strolled straight out of my id. Thomas Walsingham, nephew to a spymaster and destined to become one but still holding such warmth in his heart and such faith in Kit even when Kit lashes out to disguise his own vulnerability. Will Shakespeare, young and still finding his place and his faith with such confidence and disregard for consequence.

What I'd love to see in fic: One season was nowhere near enough! I'd love to see more of this vibrant, dangerous London. More of the political shenanigans that Kit and Thomas engage in. More of the theatrical rivalry (that Will has no idea he's engaging in). Just more!
