Whee snow!

There was snow on the ground when we got back home yesterday, but overnight, there's been loads more. There's a good 4 inches of it in the garden, as I found out when I went out to refill the bird feeders and hang up some more fat balls for the feathered fluffies that fill our garden. Brought some of it back in on my skirt too.

Had an unexpected visit from my uncle who lives about 70 miles away - good to see him, and deliver yulemas pressies. Nice lunch in the pub all together, followed by that greatest of all time-off-from-work luxuries - the afternoon nap.

More new species of birds in the garden today - a dunnock in the hedge out the front, and a female goldfinch trying out the seeds in the back. Good to see the goldfinch - we've got a nijer seed feeder on order at the mo and although we've definitely got siskin, this is the first goldfinch I've seen here, so someone will appreciate that seed. She wasn't too keen on the standard seed-feeder mix.

Right, time to clear the mess tonight. My folks are visiting for New Year, and I want to bake fruity-oaty-bars in the morning - aka mincemeat slices. Ooh, and must set the video for Otherworld - gotta love a half animated movie based on the Mabinogion that has Ioan Gruffydd's voice and Daniel Evans in person.
