vae: My days of not taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle (Firefly: text: not taking you seriously)
Whoever nominated me for the No Rest For The Wicked awards - thank you for thinking of me, but I can't accept the nomination.

One of the conditions of accepting nomination is that all nominated fics are added to their archive, and I like to keep my fic in places I can control and keep track of.

I'm also not comfortable that a non-response would mean automatic acceptance (and adding to the archive), especially considering how unreliable notifications from AO3 and LiveJournal are right now.

So thank you, I'm flattered, but I won't be taking part.

Anyone who follows me on Twitter already knows that I wrote this, because I was begging and pleading for a beta, since the fandom is so tiny and the first response to the hippo request in the Yuletide chat was "They remade that? Bad idea." THANKS SO MUCH.

I know there are people that have a lot of very strong feelings about The Prisoner, and that's okay. That really is. It's awesome. The original was anarchic and challenging and surreal and frequently terrifying in its examination of identity, and the remake/reinvention is a very different beast - and that's okay too. Personally, I adored the 2009 remake, and not just for Ian McKellen, Hayley Atwell, Ruth Wilson and Jamie Campbell Bower (though admittedly they didn't hurt). I won't say much more about how the concept was changed and reinvented in case there are people who haven't seen it and still want to (I'll lend you DVDs, I really will), but don't think of it as a remake, take it on its own merits, and it's really rather fascinating.

So yes, all that preamble is to say that I wrote only one fic for Yuletide this year (though I'm eyeing up the requests list for potential treats, especially for Husbands and Eternal Law), and it was for the 2009 remake of The Prisoner. It's very short, for me, but it's trying to look at the effect of constant monitoring, constructed personality, living with the expectation of others, and a hint of personal rebellion.

My recipient was awesome and wonderful and wrote the most LOVELY DYA letter, which basically gave me license to write almost anything and was reassuring and just perfect. Thank you, Bakcheia!

Imaginary Numbers (1195 words) by Vae
Fandom: The Prisoner (2009)
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Relationships: 11-12/909
Characters: 909, 11-12, 2
Summary:

909 is something in security. 909 is an Undercover. 909 reports to Two.

909 has arms that occasionally distract 11-12 from the subject under discussion enough that he's thankful he isn't expected to take an active part in the conversation.

Tell me you want to play and I'll pick up to three of your fandoms. Then update your journal and answer the following questions:

1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?
2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?
4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?

Second fandom: Torchwood

1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?

And, um, my answers are probably coming in three separate posts because that's a lot of questions for three whole fandoms!

So, the first fandom she gave me was Firefly. Ah, Firefly, fandom of my heart.

1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?
Well, it was a combination of witchcraft and a four wheel drive vehicle.

No, seriously. )
