So... I started snowflake and then disappeared for a week - first week back kicked my ASS, but here we are, it's about not falling off for ages.

Snowflake #2 is not a bit of me, and as someone who's not fully within a fandom and hasn't been for several years there's nothing I can add to previous years #3 answers. I don't have an answer for #4, but I am going to go trawling through people's responses to that for ideas. I do have some thoughts for Snowflake 5: In your own space, create a list of at least three things you'd love to receive, a wishlist of sorts however (not least because I ALWAYS ask for the first one).

  • For all creators to have a Transformative Works statement somewhere accessible (mine is on my AO3 Profile)

  • Icons for The Pitt (which is too full for me to write about, but which I adore)

  • Small house cleaning challenges or decluttering categories (for example: socks, spices, or paperwork would be a category, clean the bathroom sink would be a challenge)

Starting snowflake, then vanishing, then posting several at once is part of the tradition <3

Look at one area which is a mess because everything is just sort of jumbled together. Obtain an organizer that would suit the stuff. Put the stuff in an organizer. It can be big or small.

... I've gotten to where if I see a good one while thrifting, I'll buy it. I can always use more places to sort stuff.

If thrifting is less convenient where you are, it may work better as a backup plan. There are also stores and catalogs for specially designed organizers, and at least some of them probably do mail-order. These are more expensive, but you usually get what you pay for.

Some are incredibly clever. We've been looking at modular organizers for a garden shed that have hooks or grippers designed to hold all different tools. It's very interesting. Some drawer organizers are modular so you can assemble something to fit not only your desired drawer but the things you wish to store in it.

It helps to think outside the box, too -- I store my beading supplies in a tacklebox. Fishing has some of the best organizers for tiny things, often cheaper than you'd see in a craft store.

The Pitt is so good!

Sorry you've had a tough first week back, here's hoping the next one is better.

Maybe we could swap decluttering categories and both have a go at them? I bet we've got some categories in common that could really do with tackling - like con related paperwork and photos.

I have con programmes and wristbands and photographs and they just sit in a folder and never get looked at. Along with theatre programmes. Along with... oh god, so many things.

But we could swap decluttering prompts and report back to each other?

I can aim to have some ideas of themes to share next Sunday! Some of it isn't going to be fast but plans can be made for the not-fast things.

Photos with my own face in are things I have to figure out what to do with - that, and publicity photos with dedicated autographs. Tickets to things are all in a (small, decorative) box, and that defines my space for them. Theatre programmes, though...

I remember the first week back after the holidays as always being far too full of everything happening at once. I don't know if it makes me sad or reassured that this is still the case. And in another country too!

A cleaning challenge I should probably do myself soon is to go through my wardrobe and get rid of everything I haven't worn in the last couple of years. I try to remember to do this regularly but somehow I always fail.

That's a neat way of keeping track on what you're not using. My problem isn't so much keeping track though, it's getting round to actually DOING the culling. I notice it needs to be done every time I open the wardrobe or drawer but since I usually don't have time right then I tell myself I do it later...
